One thing I think is wrong from the press release - I thought Kieran Roberts was now higher at ITV - says his "Executive Producer Kieran Roberts" - I thought that was Phil Collinson. As im sure that Kim Crowther was Ex Producer.

Kieran is Executive Producer, and Phil is Producer.

Phil is essentially the man who runs the show. Kieran oversees everything but he has other responsibilities as he's also Controller of Drama at ITV Studios - he recently produced The Road to Coronation Street.

Yes thats correct - Kieran has been Exec Producer during both Steve Frost and Kim Crowther's era's too. I know some people didnt like Steve but I really liked his era. Kim's not so much. Its definately improved since Phil took over.

Steve was good, it was when Kim arrived that things went downhill, glad she went before the 50th, I hated how she wanted the show to stay exactly the same instead of moving it ahead

That tram looked rubbish at the end of tonights episode. They have done it better if the past, I wonder what went wrong this time.

I think it was just due to it being daytime (and in-house too), not to mention it was a high shot too, so they had to edit out the studio behind the viaduct, I think it was a good little effort

Seems like they're going to a lot of trouble to keep the outcome of the tram disaster under wraps.

Think it will be a bit of a depressing Christmas on Corrie this year.

Logistically it's going to be interesting to see how they work around this, because presumably the aftermath of the tram crash will have to be filmed prior to the live episode. So, if the Kabin and Corner Shop are to be wiped out, they'll be dismantling it all soon, or will it all be CGI ? Very Happy

How far is Corrie filmed in advance at the moment ?

It did look slightly bad, maybe because of the "filmic" look of the shot. Wouldn't there have been any way to smoothen it out a little? Perhaps it would have looked better.

Yeah I was thinking that, In the next few weeks or so when they do the actual crash they will have the Kabin etc destroyed and by December when it comes to the live episode ( when the Kabin ect will need to be destroyed again), there'll actually be filming say February's episodes. Laughing

I suppose they will either near enough completely CGI the desroyed Kabin for the Tram Crash episode itselt ( so it isn't really destryoyed) and then cover it up like they have done the Queen Vic fire or
actually destroy it for the tram crah episode and CGI it in the Live episode ( but I cn't see Live CGI being that good, well not as good as proper post production CGI.)

Hope that makes sense - I think I've confused myself! Laughing

Apparently in January they will only be two weeks ahead of transmission

Did a crap screenshot (my speciality) of the tram

As the tram left the left hand side of the screen, it jumped back into frame so you saw the trailing driving cab twice!

I'm wondering if we should blame ITV1 for that rather than ITV Studios. The jump affected the whole picture, not just the tram and it looked like the jump you get just before ITV1 put a 'Coming up next' graphic on screen.

If you watch the last scene in slow motion you can see that while the taxi, Nick and everything else on screen moves smoothly, the tram jumps several pixels each frame.
