Right call - and the 7.30pm slot next Wednesday is free should they not find a slot by then.

Would this be the first time an episode has been pulled doe to similarities with a current news event (rather than being pulled due to scheduling reasons to cover such events)?

I wonder how long it'll be before a paper claims "Cumbrian killer got idea from Corrie plot". .

Well if it was Eastenders than the Daily Mail will be all over it - any opportunity to bash the Beeb

ITV still don't seem to know what will happen in terms of re-scheduling. Certainly they've been reluctant to say when the the next episode will air.

Maybe the first time for Coronation Street, but it happens all the time on TV. Feature films get dropped all the time because they co-incide with something in the news. Adverts too get dropped.... airline ads when there's a plane crash being a very good example

You want them to drop today's episode? That isn't going to happen. The storyline wouldn't make sense if an episode was missed.

Would make sense to hold until Monday at least, unless they get the cast into the studio tomorrow after rewriting the plot overnight.

That would create a sizeable backlog, and with the World Cup approaching, it would be a long time until they would be able to get them up to date

They won't know yet, plus ITV bosses don't work 24/7 you know.

What ever happens they are in a mess, with BGT dominating the schedules this week, Soccer Aid all night on Sunday, the World Cup around the corner and extra episodes of EastEnders scheduled next week to avoid, what ever they do will result in an unusual schedule.

It'll either be an extra episode at 7pm, at 10pm or on Saturday, all of which are not ideal.

Why? They have 24 hours to decide now. They can't decide today as they don't know what is going to happen tomorrow. We also don't know what happens in Coronation Street.

The police have not released details of the gun(s) used in the case today. What if they release the information tomorrow and it turns out to be the same kind of gun used in Coronation Street? There could be any number of similarities, some of which ITV might know about, some of which they won't know about until the police release more details.

They will - they have a lot to consider, seeing as Britains got talent is taking up much of the schedule there is not a lot of space left, Emmerdale viewers would be upset (again taking note of Monday's 7pm) if Corrie took their slot.

BGT will be difficult to negotiate because Simon Cowell probably booked that along time ago and a lot of money would be riding on it - not to mention ads that may be tied to being played at certain times?

Moving the News, well ITV did want to cut that out and playing Corrie after the News At Ten won't please you either will it!

So Saturday? Sunday? before Monday's episode, so not to affect another week, what show's can be dropped etc will be the question.

I don't believe the content of the 'Wednesday ep' has anything to do with when it next airs - none of these eps have to be aired after 9pm, it was just a good slot to break BGT up for the results.

god there not showing untill 9pm tomorrow at the earliest so there weigh up all the possible options - there not just moving Corrie - there likely going to have to move BGT around it, which in itself will cause problems!

Would make sense to hold until Monday at least, unless they get the cast into the studio tomorrow after rewriting the plot overnight.

There'll no way do that! if anythink there'll air it tomorrow with some edited scenes - there not going to reshoot!
