I'm guessing the buildup to the viaduct collapse/tram crash will be on Monday, with it hitting the fan at the end of it, then the chaos playing out over the week with the live episode being on Thursday

I suppose thats a possibilty as like i said i've heard it will be on like BGT week, so if the crash didn't happen on the Monday, then the episodes prior to the actaul Thurdsay 9th, wouldn't really be properly part of the "Big annivesary week."

It's sort of a shame that there is no other way than CGI for the actual crash as it would be great to have the "actual 50th Thursday episode" be both Live and have the crash. As then the "big event" is one the actual anniversary. But I suppose this way is better as you get a weeks worth of special episode's! Very Happy

I bet there will be some big event on the Thursday though :p, Maybe Monday's episode will be the I've heard about then the Tuesday the viaduct collapses as the tram goes over

That's what I was saying - there really needs to one of the big events on the Thursday or the Live episode. In
which case their still needs to be something big happen also - well there is no point having a live episode unless something big happens!

Also
what explosion are we talking about?

Aye, I'm guessing it could be about Jack Duckworth, and maybe a significant character being pull out of the rubble alive

I heard someone talking about an explosion in Corrie, they said they read it in the ITV Autumn/Winter highlights in the press center, so I checked it out and it was there xD apparently it happens before the crash

Jack Duckworth might be a possibilty!

and i've had a look at the press center i've found this couple of things - but i don't think i can see anything about an expolision - can you post a link where it is or copy and paste the bit where it says it?

ITV’s world-famous soap opera Coronation Street turns 50 this December. The drama first broadcast live to an expectant nation on 9th December 1960. It is the story of everyday lives of ordinary folk, on an ordinary street, in a northern town called Weatherfield, and it changed television history for ever.
This winter ITV will celebrate the success of the world’s longest-running drama serial with entertainment and factual programming, off-airevents and special 50th anniversary merchandising. And of course the show will continue to provide must-see drama –culminating in a catastrophic explosion which will send a tram careering off the viaduct! Fuller details of storylines and extra programming will be revealed at the end of September.

Secrets and lies are exposed on Coronation Street this autumn, as the season sees affairs of the heart coming
to a shocking climax which changes life on the street for ever. After a tempestuous affair with Kevin, Molly Dobbs is still holding the secret of her baby’s parentage. But when the child is born, Kevin is tortured by the thought that proud dad Tyrone may actually be raising his son. Kevin demands a DNA test, but will anyone get theoutcome they are hoping for as we finally discover who is the father of Molly’s baby?

John Stape is hiding a killer secret – under the floor of Underworld! But after dumping Colin Fishwick’s body
there and concealing his identity fraud, his lies refuse to stay buried. Will John be able to escape his past
before it comes back to haunt him?

Nick is doing his best to make a go of his relationship with Natasha and put his past life with Leanne behind
him. But when the couple are thrown together again, will they be able to fight their growing feelings?
Meanwhile, Nick’s not the only one with a secret: Natasha’s is carrying one inside her... or is she?

Becky is still desperate to become a mum, and as she and Steve face the adoption panel, they have got their
fingers crossed. When a vicious lie threatens to derail their chances, Becky delves into her past to find sister
Kylie. Back on the street Kylie reveals a secret of her own – her child Max. Becky is smitten with her nephew, but when Kylie stuns them with a shocking proposition, will the McDonalds buy into Kylie’s seedy world?

Then one fateful night events come to a head as a tram disaster strikes in Weatherfield. The viaduct collapses, sending a tram careering off the bridge and crashing on to the cobbles. Life on Coronation Street will never be the same again, as much-loved residents are killed and injured and the community is left reeling by the devastating effects of the tragedy.

oh I knew I'd missed it! So the actual explosion is what causes the tram to crash - the way you said it I thought there was a separate explosion!

I think the word is referring to the collapse of the viaduct structure rather than anything else.

Returning to the BBC Four drama once more, here is a great article from the Daily Mail. Nice to read that even the little details like certain signs/notices in the Rovers have been recreated - and look at the Rovers doorway behind Celia Imrie (what little we can see of it), the designers have got it spot on! It looked just like that in the first few episodes.

In 1960, a gritty new ITV drama called Coronation Street first aired: 7,412 episodes later its origins have been recreated - on the BBC

I think it will be an actual explosion, it makes the viaduct collapse more realistic too, as it will be weakened

Can't wait to see the Road To Coronation Street's set, apparently James Roache will be appearing as Bill Roache the same week he will appear as James Barlow!

Im glad they are doing a live episode - I really enjoyed the one they did in 2000. Be interesting to see how they do it tho because they are filming 8+ weeks in advance at the moment it seems so im assuming episodes that will air around the live episode will be filmed as early as October.

Was watching the 40th Live episode on youtube yesterday night - was quite good I thought - " Save our Street" Laughing Almost seemed like a normal episode because unlike eastenders I didn't spot a mistake!
