I don't always go on the Coronation Street thread, so I don't know if the upcoming 50th anniversary storyline has been discussed much, but will the victims of the tram crash be revealed at any upcoming date, or is the new producing wanting to keep it all a secret until December?

It will be sad for Jack Duckworth to go, he has been such a funny character for the last 25+ years. I always remember his old pair of glasses taped together!

Great to see Betty back this evening. Not my favourite storyline this Steve and Becky one.

That woman who gave Becky the cig wasn't half loathsome. She reminded me of Cilla Battersby.

I did some of Victoria Street too, and added the brewery into the background

I agree about the social worker, she had one of those nasty faces xD (not looks wise, but the look on her face)

How many times did the phrase 'one fag' get used tonight.

Adopting isn't like being at Argos you know. Laughing

A browse through Amazon has thrown up newly-released images for two DVD box sets - the first available from 4 October and the second from 14 October:

Coronation Street - Golden Anniversary Collection

Looks very clean and nice design-wise. The content remains to be seen, though... hopefully there isn't too much reliance on the most recent years. I hope there's an even spread over all five decades but there is the inclusion of the "Corrie Controversies" and "Family Albums" special in the second box set, which although enjoyable doesn't give much of an insight into life on the Street before the year 2000 (!)

Anyway, in an attempt to begin another line of conversation in this thread... which characters do you think will (or perhaps should) be included in the "Stars" collection? I have quite a few favourites from over the years, but I think five of my favourites definitely deserve to be included: Ena, Elsie, Annie, Vera and Blanche. My humble opinion, of course.

Talking about Family Albums, it'd be nice if ITV remade and updated the ones they used to show and aired them around the anniversary either on ITV1 or ITV2.

It got a bit daft them repeating the same ones years later. (You'd get the Platts one where Sarah Lou would be asking what she thinks her character will get up to in the future, years after she left!)
