However, I doubt I could've avoided any mention of that scenario between now and December, and it could just be another press 'leak' to put people off the scent.
If it is right, I do hope Dev is on shift that day in t'Corner Shop!
The picture doesn't illustrate it well, but I can see how that would happen, if the collapse made the tracks bend, sending the tram through the wall onto Viaduct street and through the two shops, plus the tram and the rubble would act as a blockage between the Joinery and the outside world, making it more dramatic
Am I the only one that's worried that the "new look" Corrie may alienate its hardcore viewers? Those who are over 50, who don't want to see fresh faced youngsters jumping into each other's bed and hogging each scene. Neighbours is a shadow of its former self as it over relies on its younger cast and as for the E20 kids (FAT BOY... grr).
Coronation Street is one of the very few shows that still has character actors in it, William Roache, Barbara Knox and Eileen Derbyshire and most of older cast members still need to be there. Of course you need new blood but cutting back your core characters will devastate this soap. The Peacocks should have gone ages ago, along with the ultra annoying Dev. Norris is very predicable too.
I think they should actually look at the cutting back the number of episodes it airs, that's the only way this soap can get back to its glory days and regain a constant audience. I would quite happily watch it if it was on three or four times a week.
I don't think too many of the oldies will go tbh, from what I hear Phil values them the most. I think the new look is more about the look of the actual street rather than a total clear out of the show.

I'd imagine you would be the only one worried about that, unless anyone else hasn't taken in all the press stories that have come out recently. They've all pointed to the opposite!

Coronation Street is to lose some of its younger characters as well as some old favourites in the upcoming tram disaster, according to reports.
Series producer Phil Collinson feels that the Weatherfield soap has become too much like Hollyoaks.
Collinson is also looking to bring back more glamour by finding the new Elsie Tanner or Bet Lynch.
A show insider told The People: "Phil feels Corrie has become too much like a teen soap like Hollyoaks."
He feels that Corrie has been focussing to much of the younger characters and should return to what it was before.
Well, with the Corner shop going, the viaduct collapsing and the Kabin going too...that makes these shots out of date in 2011, which kinda futhers the idea this set of titles might just be for the 50th
