Is there a reason why they must have Sunday showings to catch up?

Are some of the events in the episodes time & date sensitive?

Why don't they 'take a breather' occasionally, in case something happens off screen productionwise, then they have a few episodes in hand?

When they started prerecording the episodes in early 1961, what was the gap between recording & transmission?
(Reading the Corriepedia site, I think things got a little hairy around August 1968, due to the strikes involving the franchise changeover!)

I think they are a little bit time/date sensetive and also if they don't catch up for example if they want to leave a friday episode on a cliffhanger till monday being off schedule might mean it will be a cliffhanger on monday 7:30 going into 8:30 episode. Also as we saw from the seige week, because of the scheduling problems. It ended up that it was for example, nightime on the 7:30 episode and by the 8:30 episode it was the next day. I think Monday & Fridays double episodes are normally set on the same day. So unless their told about it in advance if they don't catch up i will be out of sync.

I enjoyed Corrie last night, it's been a while. They do comedy very well and I just hope the drama they have coming up suits well with the vision Corrie seems to be taking.

I think the drama will be better than before, Phil seems to like having plenty of characters to bear witness to things Very Happy

Excellent episodes last night and all week - It was great to see so many long term characters involved in the Lewis storyline - Deirdre, Ken, Audrey, Gail, Rita as well as Peter and Leanne who are quite long running now. Phil's eps have only been on air a few weeks but already there is a huge improvement.

Phil seems to have a real passion for the show unlike Kim and Steve, it's a shame the tabloids are making him out to be an axeman, when he has managed to turn Corrie around in three weeks

The tabloids said the same about Brian Park who axed a lot more than Phil has - the show was also in a far worst state before Brian Park than it was before Phil took over IMO - and Brian turned the show around almost as quick as Phil has!

Aye, he got a lot of bad press, but he was probably the savior of the show, Corrie had become quite outdated, the Peacock's did need to go, no matter how much people say they didn't, they're taking up a house on the street and a business which could be given to a much better family. I remember when the Sun quoted me about the Peacocks! Laughing

But then, who really cares about the bad press? I can't imagine ITV will, will they, if the ratings improve?

This has to be the best story of the week from the NOTW. The locked door bit is the funniest Laughing

Quote:
THE new boss of Corrie is worried about losing the plot.

So worried in fact that Phil Collinson is having the set of the ITV1 soap scanned for BUGS.

The no-nonsense producer - who has struck fear into the actors since arriving a few months ago - splashed out THOUSANDS to bring in a team to sweep for bugging devices.

The aim is to catch those he believes are leaking top secret storylines in the build-up to the show's 50th anniversary special. As well as on-the-spot checks and questioning, a secure unit is in the pipeline for the Green Room where scripts will only be accessible through a locked door.

Last night Collinson said: "I'm determined to discover who is leaking scripts. We're deploying unprecedented security measures to clamp down on these breaches."

Although that sounds like crap - I'm not sure if these are true (from same article):

ONE: Tearaway David Platt will be charged with trying to MURDER a love rival.

When Corrie cops arrest David (Jack Shepherd) for mowing down Graeme (Craig Gazey) they warn he'll rot in jail if his victim dies.

A source said: "Viewers will think he's really done it this time - and he could be on his way out of the soap."

TWO: Corrie's biggest bed-hoppers are to share a steamy romance, we can also reveal.

Sex-mad Rosie Webster (Helen Flanagan) and horny Jason Grimshaw (Ryan Thomas) have finally been brought together by scriptwriters.

Our insider said: "The romance starts in a few weeks."

lmao, they used that exact same article for Kim Crowther

Quote:
Meanwhile, The People also claims that paranoia over the show's future has led to a widespread "mole hunt" in recent weeks.

Following recent storyline leaks to the media, executive producer Kim Crowther reportedly ordered staff to hand over their phone records - and also recruited an expert to sweep conference rooms for bugging devices.

A source revealed: "Staff couldn't believe what they were hearing. They deal with top-secret storylines and internal matters week in, week out so found it astonishing that the finger of suspicion should be pointed at them.

"Most were happy to do it because they knew if they didn't, questions would be asked. As for the bug sweep, it shows how paranoid the bosses have become. The atmosphere is really bad now because everyone is worried about their jobs in this difficult climate."

A ITV spokesperson this afternoon told DS: "We are very vigilant when it comes to protecting storyline leaks on both Coronation Street and Emmerdale as we don't want to spoil plots for our viewers."

I know for certain that second one is true as all the signs have been there (them being together when searching for Sophie)

They were excellent. The mixture of comedy and drama was absolutely brilliant. It was so good in fact, it didn't bother me that Audrey was ready to move into a new hotel only a week and a half after seeing it, or that Gail "rang round" Audrey's friends only to invite her family and Rita.
