Perhaps the bar opening will coincide with the tram crash - lot's of people on the street below, lot's of deaths, hence lot's of exits ?

oh I understand what Chewey meant by it now. Thanks!

Would make sense, as normally there wouldn't be that many people near the viaduct, but the opening of the joinery could involve near eough all the characters being affected.

I wonder if the tram will actually hit the street then? or will it just be the viaduct?

I hope the tram hits the Corner Shop and takes Dev with it. Wink

Joking aside, I don't think the Street itself will be hit. Well, apart from the cobbles anyway - won't the damaged tram be lying on top of the viaduct rubble? I'm thinking it'll be very similar to the 1967 incident. I'm still excited to see how it is all played out, but I hope we get a little bit of tradition as it's the big 5-0. For instance, a show/party in the Rovers? That used to be a regular feature from the 1960s to the 1980s and there are more recent examples - the drag night from 2001, the Rovers' 100th anniversary in 2002 and the Hallowe'en night from a few years back (or was it last year?!)

In fact, something has just popped back into my mind - the trips to Blackpool illuminations that the residents all used to go on. That used to be a regular thing for a bit in the early '60s, but they had another trip there as recent as 1988. (I only know that because classic episodes used to be shown on Plus and I hadn't seen any of these episodes until Plus broadcast them, so was very surprised to see a Blackpool trip take place in the '80s.) Would they have another one...? If I remember rightly, a lot of the younger cast like Curly Watts, Jenny Bradley, Martin Platt etc. were also on that trip.

god i think i'd personally drive the tram to make sure it went in the corner shops direction! Laughing
I do think the tram crash is a great oppurtunity to get red of annoying characters like him. Sean would be next on my list!

Ah wait, this is what the ITV.com story said

"Disaster will strike on the cobbles as the viaduct near the Kabin collapses sending a tram careering off the bridge and onto the Street." so it does sound like it will go onto the street still

It could also provide a good reason as to why the viaduct would collapse in the first place. Perhaps the storyline will involve some 'dodgy' building work in the bar which weakens the structure?
