There was also more evidence of them using music to make jokes; on the Sunday episode, John was speaking to Colin Fishwick with The Ting-Tings' "That's Not My Name" in the background... Very Happy

Not so long ago, there's was Molly's phone with (He's Not My) Boyfriend by Alphabeat, whenever Kevin phoned! Of course there was the classic sequence with Richard Hillman taking Gail, David and Sarah hostage to the strains of the Wannadies' You & Me Song!

Apparently the set move is very much still on the cards

Quote:
"James, second son of visionary Peel Holdings entrepreneur John Whittaker, is pretty sure that Coronation Street will be filmed at MediaCityUK in Salford in the not too distant future.

He can even point out the location where the Corrie cobbles would be laid, opposite The Heart, a magnificent apartment block, and overlooked by a stunning three-bed apartment bought by the BBC’s Nicky Campbell – which would come in handy should the Scots presenter ever decide to test Betty’s hotpot.
Although a deal has not yet been sealed, James is confident that it soon will be."

So will they shoot all of Salford Quay's noisy seagulls then? Wink

Nicky Campbell should probably invest in a good camera and a long range lens then. Surely the fact that it is overlooked makes this a non-starter?

If your talking about the building overlooking the street - well that's not a problem really - as the street is now by the Granada buiding - it's just hidden by CGI on the titles and good camera shots hiding it the rest of the time.

In some ways a set move would benefit the show, for one, they could make the street bigger (so that cars fit on it properly) they could add Mawdsley Street, and make Victoria Street look a bit more realistic

exactly! I think when the set move finally comes (if it does) then there will have to be another crash/explosion to hide the changes being made - sort of like what Eastenders are doing with the Vic fire, so they can upgrade a load of the set to HD.

Aye the current set does have a lot of history, but its all very makeshift, especially Victoria Street, it'd be great for Corrie to have a set as big as EastEnders

With the current trend for downsizing, surely there will be more space now on the Granada site than what they would be allocated at MediaCity, so I couldn't imagine a massive set being built at Mediacity.
