I'd like them to go back to four a week, spread evenly round the week - Monday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday - and stick to that schedule rigidly. Surely cutting back down to four would be good for the quality of the programme? I'd be hesistant of moving the second ep back to Wednesday as it would just get shoved around when football is on, etc., and the Thursday 8:30pm seems to be a good, solid place for Corrie.* It's sad that ITV have long since abadoned the old gameshow/soap/documentary/drama style schedule - the reliance on soaps and the gradual move away from anything un-soapy before 9pm often jeopardises the quality of the soaps.

*The ratings for the Thursday 8:30pm may be less than handsome at the moment, but what ITV needs to do is stick with it for a long, long time - then you'll see the ratings build up. Time and time again ITV has messed with programmes that haven't had the chance to bed into a slot or build up viewers.

I think though BBCNIcky you have to face facts and accept they're not going to cut back - I expect the same argument was made when the third, and then fourth, episode was introduced too, and frankly they're more likely to decide to go back to making it in black and white than scrap an episode

I also dispute the opinion it would solve any problems - all the soaps have had good periods as a five times a week soap, and all have had lulls. Also I suspect if as some kind of compromised rather than scrapping an episode ITV had decided to say keep Corrie on a Wednesday but not replace the episodes lost too football the people moaning it's on too often would also be the first moaning every time an episode is lost to a match.

I think this Thursday's ratings was so low as it was against Waterloo Road (who had a half hour lead in, and before it was EastEnders)

If the rumours that Paul O'Grady's new show are true, we're going to lose a Friday 7:30 slot anyway. I agree that they need to just stick to the schedule and stop messing around. The World Cup is fair enough but when we end up with some weeks Sundays, some not, some weeks Wednesdays, some not, it all gets very confusing for some. Much better if they get a firm schedule and stick to it.

I agree, they're messing about with it too much. I usually forget the Thursday episode as being on only at 8.30 anyway it just looks as though it shouldn't really be on that day.

They're almost certainly not. Until people got their wires crossed here the other day all indications were -and still are - it's destined for 9pm on Fridays.

Still think swapping Emmerdale and Corrie in the 8pm hour would help on Thursdays as viewers are used to switching over for Corrie after EastEnders.

If one episode was dropped though (and I'd prefer the second on Friday to be) I think a flexible Sunday/Wednesday solution would be the best. Basically on Wednesdays in none football weeks, but with Sunday episodes to make up those lost.

No I think it has to be a regular night that doesn't change unless due to a major event like the World Cup which is once every 4 years.

I think a Wed would be better - correct me if im wrong but the football is 16 weeks out of 52 on Wed's so they could always move Corrie to the earlier time of 7pm on those weeks.

I really hope they arent going move it from 7.30pm on Fridays. If that is the case I will be less than happy. It will be the 3rd episode that has been moved out of the traditional Sun/Mon/Wed/Fri 7.30pm slots from when it went 4 nights a week in 1996. Cant they just leave it alone.

Yes the outside of the strip club was where the old Granada Studios tours were.
