When you consider Coronation Street has a murder rate several thousand times the national average, a population which requires no on-street parking, only one house with double-glazing, satellite dishes which point in opposite directions, houses where staircases move around willy nilly, and a pub with an interior significantly larger than the exterior, I think we maybe need to accept that having two local shops is probably acceptable for dramatic licence.

Maybe they should merge - Norris and Dev side by side.
What. A. Partnership.
So does Dev not sell sweets? So if you wanted a pack of sweets while out for some milk you would need to pop over the the kabin or get both in freshco.
We use to have 2 shops where I use to love a newsagent and a 7-10 shop, but now the newsagent has moved into the 7-10 and took it over.
Maybe they should merge - Norris and Dev side by side.

Are there no streets near you with two shops on it ?
There are two shops in my street - generally one is making better business than the other however. Unusually, the successful one has just re-opened after five and a half years of being closed. Try that for a storyline Corrie.
I remember that, but I still dont understand WHY the street has Two shops on it? also has the post office been taken out of service?

That sounds like a pretty crap storyline.

I do agree though, I think in all fairness it's a small street and if Corrie were to really grasp everyday life Norris should be struggling against Dev who really should just sell bloody newspapers and sweets! Maybe they actually could merge like I said or one of them closes because I think 1 is enough for that little place.

Where I live is pretty quiet so that's as fun as it gets to be honest.

Does it still have the post office? What happened to that other pub which competed with the rovers.

The Flying Horse? That's set to reappear soon, I think.

My local newsagent is a small shop (similar to the Kabin), but also sells some rather over-priced essentials such as bread, milk, tinned food. It has a hairdressers above, which is run by the same family.
It seems to be a profitable enough business, despite the fact that within a 5-10 min walk there is a Co-op (newly refurbished) and a Tesco Express/Esso side-by-side, which offer a larger range of groceries and newspapers/magazines. Opposite them is another 2 hairdressers and a chemist.
I suppose it is rather unrealistic that Norris hasn't tried to expand into some groceries, or than Dev hasn't gone into newspapers. However, if one of them closed, it would raise the question of what to replace it with.
It's a fairly unusual couple of streets anyway. What with: a pub, a restaurant/bar, a grocer, a newsagent, a gym, a cafe, 1 (or 2) takeaways, a hairdresser, a taxi office, a medical centre, a factory, a car repair shop, a 'dodgy second hand store', a builder's yard and an empty shop (Elliots) - all within spitting distance of each other.
Is Mr Wong still in business, or was he forced to shut down by Prima Donner taking his trade?
I'm surprised 'The Precinct' does any trade at all.
