Towards the end of 1998, Roy was offered £65,000 from the next door bike shop for the café and the flat. Roy accepted the offer with Roy and Hayley Patterson moving to the current premises on Victoria Street.

The exterior shots for the old Roy's were done at La Contadina Italian restaurant in Prestwich, Manchester.

That red and yellow shop kind of reminds me of Roys Rolls. I wonder if the new street could perhaps be where Roys and the Kabin used to be?

Yeah does look like Roys but I don't get what you mean when you say used to be?

Before the opposite side of the street was built when the factory stood there, The Kabin and The Café were in Rosamond Street. Rita moved to the new Kabin when the shop was built in the 1990s. I can't remember why the The Café (now Roys Rolls) moved, but I am sure that someone on here will know.

I knew about the remodel in 90s but didn't know about the kabin move and stuff

When Roys Rolls first moved, it used to be in a slightly different place (presumably, because it was just a facade at that point, with the rest of the street being built behind it, in the show, the Victoria Street version cafe has always been in the same place)

I'm curious though, was Victoria Street supposed to be a newly built row of shops? Or did it just appear as if it had always been there?

If we want to be particular about things even the location of Victoria Street has moved around over the years!

Here's Dennis Parkin's original map of Weatherfield from 1961:

And here's an updated map from 1976.

Notice how Victoria Street moved to t'other side of the viaduct in the 1970's! Today's location is more accurate when looking at the original idea for Weatherfield.

The factory fire was in the 1970's. It was replaced by the houses in 1989-90 when Mike Baldwin sold it to developers.

Jesus, Betty Turpin and Alf lived quite a while away from Coronation Street...

And if Rosamund Street has now turned 90 degrees, does that mean that there in no longer a Mawdsley Street?

Back when Steve McDonald was a builder, he was the gaffer of the project to open the new group of shops. New or a conversion I can't recall.

People seem to have missed out that the original Roy's Rolls was Jim's Cafe ran by Alma & Gail.

According to this map, it's pretty much in the location visable under the viaduct on Mawdsley Street(?)

Was he the one that cuts conners to save money? and resulted in the building getting damp with crap cerment. How did there reslove that issues? It just seems to have been whitewashed, plus we never see inside the the Doctors anymore. Was it closed down because of the doggy building?
