From what we could see behind the big promo, the ned credits seem to be the same as the opening. Although was it just me or did the last note it closing music not sound right?


Not quite, only 4 scenes, post box, woman hanging washing (no cat), Rovers sign, chimney's.

You should watch in HD, no promos.

On ITV1 HD. No promos, no announcer over closing credits of shows.

I think it's quite sad how they've cut out a whole chunk of the closing theme, the most vital part of it is now gone. That said, I think the first half of the new closing is better on the ear than the opening version - is it just me? Listen carefully and hopefully you'll see (or rather, hear) what I mean.

It's a shame that they've done very well with the new titles, but cocked up majorly with the new theme tune. You can't really do any better than the original if it's worked for 50 years.

I like the new theme music especially the closing theme. From the early to mid 1990s they only usually played the second half of the closing credits, this was long before they put ECP and annoying announcers over the credits too!

I agree. The new theme just reminds me of the dodgy cover versions that have appeared on TV Themes albums over the years. IMO, it's not actually different enough to have made it worth bothering with a new version, but just different enough to make it sound not quite right.

A new thread I see - and I've ended up as the topic starter! Laughing

Also thought it was worth telling you the ratings for Corrie last night:

ITV1 (inc ITV HD)

19:00 - Coronation Street: 7.8m (38.0%)
* 0.3m watched on ITV1 HD

21:00 - Coronation Street: 10.2m (40.3%)
* 0.5m watched on ITV1 HD

and ouch for EE
20:00 - EastEnders: 4.9m (19.0%)

The new look nearly works well but fails because of:

1. The music on the end of part one sting
2. The font on the break stings
3. The closing music, to an extent. It's a bit washy especially at the end of a dramatic episode.

Hope they fix it.

I like the new music, it's long overdue a change of some sort. I think the font at the breaks looks out of place though.
