See they've kept the "old" style tram going over the bridge.

It's definitely a 'new' style tram, as it was on the previous version of the titles.

There didn't seem to be a lot of outside scenes in last night's episode, and many of them were quite tight shots, which I guess was probably deliberate so people notice less of a sudden change.

I was quite impressed though with what they did show. The press shots of the new set did make it look huge and a bit too clean looking, so I was expecting the new set to be a bit jarring, but on screen I thought they'd actually done a very good job. Had I not known about the change and been looking specifically, I doubt I'd have noticed. The only thing I did think though was that it looked more 'real', which was good. So far, top marks to the designers from me. Smile

It's one of the old 1992 trams painted in the yellow going over. The newer trams are less boxed shaped at the front and back ends.

A lot of the older trams, most in the old white and green livery, are still serving the Piccadilly-Eccles line, so for where they imply Weatherfield is using the old trams is probably more realistic.

Booked mine earlier! Very Happy

Interesting to see that you'll be able to visit some of the interior sets. I'd presumed they'd all been moved to Salford.

Even sets which wouldn't have been moved such as the cab office would have had props and furniture moved. I can only think of places like Roy and Haley's bedroom and Michelle's old flat which probably won't be used again that might be included.

Maybe they recreated the sets for Salford, or they will recreate the sets for the tour?

I remember on the Granada Studios Tour they featured replica sets, and the tour guide used to tell visitors that they were back-up sets for filming, in case anything went wrong with the originals. I don't really believe that was ever the case.

As they said on the documentary, not all of the sets moved to Salford - the Rovers was built a new at Mediacity, meaning that at Quay Street there is still the Rovers set at least, along with Underworld and StreetCars.

I noticed that the Rovers tour set has the old dividers from the 2000s

In the 'Moving Story' documentary the seating was missing from the new set when they were getting it ready, as if they were waiting for it to arrive, so it looks like the new seats have made the journey to Salford.
