Wonder whether they'll just leave viewers to play spot the difference or whether they'll be a little hint in the script that something has changed.

Not exactly sure how they'd work it in, "is me or does everything seem so much bigger today?"

Presumably the intention is to make the change appear seamless to all viewers.

I'm not aware of ITV plc ever pandering to our fraternity.

Or Norris and Rita standing outside the Rovers and saying

Is it me or has the Rovers got bigger and I'm sure there used to be only ONE window upstairs?

I wonder if it will be an episode change or there will be a bit of a transition. I assume they film out of sync rather than episode by episode so you'd think we might still see a few scenes from the old set after the new has debuted - unless they made an exception for the new set.

Put The Telly On
I'd imagine there's going to be a lot more 'building site' / external scenes (Grasmere Drive etc?) coming up, to smooth the transition. Not that it would make much difference mind.

I'm not sure there will be any effort to hide the changes. At some stage there is going to be a need for a wide shot of the whole street which will reveal its larger size, so they might as well do it sooner than later.

The question is, will we get new titles?

Was the original date for the MediaCity set's debut when the Rovers reopened after the fire? That would have allowed some sort of explanation for the changes.

They really should change them, the shot of the Rovers in particular will be out of date. The new sign is in a different font.

spotting the new outdoor set will be easy as the lamp-posts are set back from the kerb as oppose to on the kerb as they are on the old
set

They should change the titles, particularly the shot of Nicks bistro.

The Rovers Return
Norris: "Don't you hate continuity errors?"
Norris then stares at a bemused group consisting of Tracey Barlow, Sophie Webster, Nick Tilsley, and David Platt. They look at Norris in bemusement.
Norris: "Suit yourselves..."
Norris then starts muttering in a Spanish accent.

Well they were definitely on the new set tonight for at least some of the outdoor scenes - on several occasions a car travelled in both directions along Coronation Street.
