includes this:
The series was introduced by a one-page article in the TV Times which mainly featured on Tony Warren but described the Street as "four miles from Manchester in any direction"

Weatherfield has a mayor (Alf Roberts etc) and a council. So, politically, it should be either a metropolitan borough or city within Greater Manchester.

"Weatherfield Quays" clearly a nod to Salford Quays.

The old titles were certainly of scenes in Salford.

In real life, Coronation Street is actually on the moon. Let's talk about something less boring now, what do you think of Roy's Rolls? Would you eat there?

You may well mock, but I think Roy's mum is one of the best characters Corrie has ever had. She's not as good as the fantastic Phyllis Pearce though. You were always guaranteed a giggle with Phyllis.

A long line of funny older ladies on Corrie over the years. Phyllis. Mavis. Blanche. Maureen. Cilla. Roy's Mum. And, of course, the Queen of them all - our Hilda!

Funny you should say that, when Sylvia first arrived I thought she was like a cross of Phyliss and Maude Grimes.

Thank you for that! As you may have noted, I've been continually referring to her as Roy's Mum. Because I forgot her name! Smile

Maud Grimes - she was a right one!

Agree completely. Sylvia's fantastic - she definitely does have elements of Maud and Phyllis, but for me she really channels that original bulldog-faced biddy, Ena Sharples. All Sylvia needs is a net and the look would be complete! Wink

One thing I'd like to (dare) ask, why do make-up give the elder women such awkward hair pieces? I notice Sylvia is now sporting a neat barnet alongside Rita, Emily and Gloria for example and am I right in thinking that Gail now has one?

Intriguing comment by the Daybreak reporter just.

Seeing Le Vell is in court today, she has said, if he is cleared, he's considering moving abroad to start a new life.

So we could be losing Kevin Webster either way, if thats true!

(Isnt that particular Daybreak reporter, Adam Rickitt's fiance by the way?)

So the article I read in one of the Sunday tabloids was true then.

I could see Kevin being written out in a Len Fairclough style, off screen in a car crash or something. It could provide an interesting storyline as they decide who gets baby Jack. Would Tyrone have him back?

Maybe of note that Shobna Gulati & Natalie Gumede better known as Sunita Alahan & Kirsty Soames have both filmed their final scenes today. Those wishing to see spoliers will know it has been widely reported that Sunita may die in the upcoming rovers fire so could Kirsty die or be somewhat involved?

I am sure a few weeks back in the paper I seen a picture of Kirsty being taken away by police. Maybe thatvis her ending??
