I assume Emmerdale submitted an episode too. I was very surprised it wasn't nominated. Especially since Corrie seemed to submit a random episode involving Becky and Steve. It does highlight what a weak year it's been for the show.
I do agree that Emmerdale should have been nominated as its been better than Corrie during some periods of the past year - however Corrie gets more viewers and is ITV's flagship soap so you cant blame ITV for putting Corrie forward.

It didn't deserve to win. It's a wonder they were nominated, but it is the 50th year I suppose.
Erm I think that's a bit harsh, IMO, saying they didnt deserve a nomination.
I agree ! Of course it did!
Although as many people agree Corrie has been through a bit of a rough patch lately, but in the last couple of months and from what seige episode scenes we've seen it's picked itself up a lot.
Aren't the BAFTAs celebrating 2009 though?
Yeah if you look at the second part of my post, that is sort of what I've put!
Oh I see. Apologies
Gutted Corrie didn't get the Bafta. Gutted!

I'm sure it's easy enough for them to edit the 'end of episode' details to allow for the fact that they are going to be either shown on the same night or as extended 91 hour) episodes - after all, they do it easy enough for the ITV2/ITV3 repeats.
I wonder if tonight's first episode will have full closing credits and the second one full opening titles.. or if the episodes will have been re-edited into the 'extended ad break' format?

Erm that scene which included Betty too was a good example of the comedy that Corrie provides. I dont agree that its been a weak year for the show at all.

no doubt they will !
BBC radio 4 got over 60 complaints for airing something about guns, the day after the shootings.
So Corrie watched by a lot more people, will no doubt get more!
What makes me laugh is that there is a warning - if people are likely to be offended they shouldn't watch!
I bet they will still get complaints even with the "Featuring scenes of Gun use" warning at the start.

Exactly - they gave a warning before the show, also they have delayed the screening of this ep for 5 days - so people really have no grounds to complain now.

The people who are offended are not necessarily the same people who complain. The people who complain generally complain because people could be offended, not because they are offended themselves.
