Interesting how they can shield potential plot lines from the beady eyes of the Beeb across the canal!

I noticed two references to Coronation Street being located in Salford on tonight's episode! Wonder if that is anything to do with the set being transferred across the River Irwell
ST
looking on the plans for the new set it does look to be being built in more or less the same geographical configureation with the corry terrace facing south (which begs the question, why do we never see the sun streaming through the rover's windows)
the canal is due north so Chewie's pics are from, as he stated, the Imperial War Museum

Exactly, and who exactly was Alf & Betty mayor and mayoress of then when they were alive, god rest their souls, surely not a district?!
Jonathan Harvey obviously made a mistake, districts don't generally have their own crown courts lol

"Mayor(ess) of Weatherfield", presumably presiding over a fictious metropolitan borough of Greater Manchester; but then it wouldn't be part of Salford, which is defined by its own metropolitan borough in real life (whatever 'real life' is
).
Re courts: Wetherfield could conceivably have a magistrates, but Crown courts are only found in large towns and significant cities; so any major crimes there would be tried at Manchester Crown Court. Then again it's a soap, and Tracy's release from prison shows how flexible the legal system when comes it comes to soaps
Speaking of local government: Weatherfield Crown Court is actually the headquarters for Tameside MBC at Ashton-under-Lyne
PS: Jonathan Harvey states on Fbk, it's "easier" for him to say Salford instead of Manchester; I believe Tony Warren originally based Coronation Street on Salford side-streets.

It's Niky Wardley, who was Lauren's (am I bovered?) best mate in The Catherine Tate Show
Caught a bit of tonight's episode, the scene where Carla & Michelle were talking to a rep in a restaurant, when Frank comes in.
The actress playing the rep seems familiar.

I'm sure I've seen her in a comedy show/ sitcom on BBC1 as well!
