The reason I ask is, Bev Callard was due to open the new Walsall Poundland store today, but I suspect (but I can't be sure yet!) she may have had to cancel due to attending the funeral.

Poundland get all the big names, Kirk opened the Bromsgrove branch.

Think Kath Kelly did Cannock a few years back ISTR.

Amazing what you read in the local rag.

On a similar note, Marlon from Emmerdale reopened a refurbished Kwik Save near me several years ago. (Sister in law went to see him!)

Is it me or does Barbara Knox seem to have a lot of ill health in recent years?(I know she's getting on, before anyone points it out!)

If she can't manage the workload, surely the production team should take note?

Barbara Knox is one of Coronation Steeet's most popular actresses (My Favourite). A year ago there was speculation that Rita would die in the Tram Crash and thank god that didn't happen. Barbara was ill two years ago and took a break and now sadly she is unwell again. The producers should not take note at all, they should make sure she is well and when she is back give her a storyline.

I think the world of Rita, Emily, Dennis, and it annoys me when we do not always see a lot of them. Thankfully we do see Ken, Deirdre, Audrey & Norris but sometimes they vanish too.

It is the core natural characters like all the ones I named above that make the programme and long may they continue

Poundland has brought a lot of old Woolworth stores, our old woolworths is now a poundland and Andy Wyment (Kirk) opened it

I'm pleased to hear that it will be a Nationwide ATM rather than those cheap and nasty ATMs you often find in small shops that make you wait while the machine dials in to the LINK network and then has the cheek to charge you £1.50 for the privilege of getting to your own money.

I assume this ATM will offer free cash withdrawals? Does the Kabin already have an ATM? If not, where is the nearest one?

I thought the corner shop already had one of those little nasty ones?

It does, but it's currently a "prop" one (or so says the linked to article above).

Admittedly our Woolies became TJ Hughes first!

On the subject of Poundland, were you aware of the 'no accessories on staff uniform' rule?

This had inadvertantly caused a 'ban' on staff wearing poppies in store, but thanks to the 'Adrian Goldberg's Saturday Soapbox' show on BBC WM yesterday, they've had a change of heart!

was it really so hard to get an up to date photo of the shop, Reg Holdsworth had it in 1994

lazy buggers probably just googled coronation street corner shop and pasted in the first photo that came up regardless of the fact it's 17 years out of date

The Kabin would (if it were real) offer free cash withdrawals through the Post Office network - for all major banks except HSBC.

Or perhaps they wanted to show the corner shop with an iconic character that is associated with it?
