Does anybody know why we never see inside Emily & Norris home anymore, for that matter we don't see a lot of Emily either, she can be missing for a few weeks and then pop up for a few episodes.

Be fair Eileen Derbyshire is knocking on a bit. At least she's still appearing unlike Betty Driver.

Dunno about the set though.

I appreciate that, if it is Eileen Derbyshire's decision to not appear as often that is fine, I love the characters of Emily, Rita, Ken etc but it is a shame when we do not see them as often.

I presume Betty Driver is still on sick leave, they keep mentioning Betty but to be honest, I live in Manchester and it was on Granada Reports when she took ill but nothing since, so I am unsure.

For curiosity, when did we last see inside Emily's house? Certainly not since December of last year before the tram crash.

Eileen Derbyshire first appeared in January 1961. I spoke to a Coronation Street spokesperson about her 50th Anniversary and nothing was being done about it. Apparently Eileen hates publicity so therefore there was no mention of it, Bill Roache mentions it in his book and he also did a few months ago on This Morning, but apart from that, no mention at all. It is a shame really because Eileen has brought a lot to the programme and deserves the recognition, there again she got a CBE last year along with Barbara Knox who plays a brilliant part as Rita, so that is something for them both.

Still puzzled about the ste though for her home, it would have been good to see Rita, Emily and Norris living together, they coould have had some funny scenes, but no. When was the set last seen?

Its good to have Rosie back, I laughed out loud when she said to Eileen "are you on fire" when someone said they had called the fire service lol!

Why did that make you laugh? It wouldn't even be funny on a 1950s US cable channel sitcom.

The Rosie Webster character has been transformed from a 'supposedly intelligent' girl whose parents thought it necessary to send her to the local private school: into a young adult who behaves as though she would struggle to write her own name correctly or recognise herself in a mirror.

Either the writers throw pointlessly bad storylines her way, or Helen Flanagan is actually as incapable of acting as she appears on screen.

It's a shame she wasn't included in the forthcoming cull, because the quality of the programme is dragged down by her and some of the other remaining characters.

Your wish may come true.

I have to say, I like Rosie as a character. She has some cracking lines at times but I agree with you her character has dramatically changed since she was with Craig many moons ago. She's a different character all together!

Because I found it funny, it was the way Rosie delivered it rather than the the actual line being funny.

I disagree about Helen F, I think she plays the part of Rosie really well.

Yes Eileen is very private, however she is apparently a nice lady with a good sense of humour, very different to Emily. I respect her for keeping quiet and not having her private life all over the papers like so many others. As far as I know she has only ever given 3 interviews in all her 50 years in Corrie and has never attended any awards shows etc - one interview when Margot Brynant died and because she was good friends she appeared on the tribute programme, another was on set and dressed in character because of the storyline with her niece, the 3rd was after getting the MBE.

Betty Driver as far as we know is still recovering from that bout of ill health earlier this year, I hope she is well enough to return. In fairness to her she is a great deal older (over 10 years older) that William, Barbara and Eileen.

I have a suspicion that the scripting in tonight's episode was purposely done for Harry Hill Laughing
