A slight diversion.

Was it common to broadcast that close to transmission back in the early days?

Surely there must have been some near misses on occasion?

When did they swop to 6 (I think?) weeks between recording & transmission?

I'm enjoying these scenes in the cafe with Sylvia, no other soap does comedy scenes like this.

LOL at Norris selling the Gazzette for £5 and Sylvia banning people from using the Water Closet!

I agree, Sylvia is the highlight of Coro at the moment, glad to see some comedy coming back into again-- Stephanie Cole is amazing. I think it's great they've brought Brian back-- just something about his manner that makes me laugh-- inspired pairing with Julie.

I used to be about 4 weeks before transmission in the 1990s/early 2000s, it's the last few years they seem to be 6 and sometimes 8 weeks ahead. In the 60s/70s Corrie used to be recorded "as live" meaning any mistakes were usually kept in so they probabaly did record it fairly close to transmission maybe a few weeks?

Good to see that work is starting.

Just a quick question, how close is the new Corrie set to the BBC building? Is it just around the corner?

It's the other side of the canal. The new bridge takes you from the middle of the new BBC buildings, over the Ship Canal to the other side between the Imperial War Museam and the new ITV site.

And suddenly Stella, who could have possble brain damage etc is now miraculously better.

Poor script this week imo.

The new set location seems very open and overlooked by many windows. The current problem with the Science Museum may pale into insignificance if everyone at MediaCity UK can look out of their office windows and see major storylines being filmed!

Just noticed a blooper on the omnibus.

The scene where Anna is outside the Post Office without any change.

Marcus: oh, hi
Anna : oh, are you sure?

Marcus then hands over some change... somebody must have missed a line.

Additionally, Noris' lottery display still has a section for the Daily
Play which ended earlier this year.

I thought I'd misheard but it wasn't just me who thought that dialogue was strange?

I have to say, this week has been one of the worst for the programme. Very boring storylines - why do they constantly have to have a mad-man? I used to enjoy Carla's character until Tony left and she became whiny and unnecessarily an alcoholic. I don't mind Stella but Carl and Eva are just more cliche characters with little substance. Couldn't give a toss about Sean either.

This week has actually made me long for more of Tracy, and I never thought I'd say that. I did like the scenes with Steve and Becky though, and even the Chris, Lloyd, Cheryll business is growing on me (but probably because the aforementioned storylines are such a snooze).

Never thought I'd say this, but if this week is what the future holds for Corrie, I can see myself switching off.

I'm surprised she didn't go into a coma, and as result she was one of these people who suddenly develop a different accent.

I believe that this is a syndrome that occurs after a stroke or head trauma, which Stella did have! Perhaps it's a new Corrie storyline.
Here's a wikipedia page on it! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Foreign_accent_syndrome
