I assume a plain glass window will be put in, instead of a Rovers branded one. It'll be interesting if a Rovers one magically appears in a few weeks!

It'll look totally out of place if they put a plain glass window. I'm willing to suspend reality if the same, historic, irreplaceable pane of glass reappears in a few weeks...!

Loving the Dennis Tanner stuff as well. Very Happy

I recall when my folks ran the New Grove Inn pub, in Whitefield, as Landlord and Landlady for 22 years, a side window
was smashed from the outside by a passing thug. This was in about 1985-86. All of the main pub windows had sand
blasted designs on them, much like the ones at the Rovers Return. The broken window was temporarily replaced
with a plain frosted window, while an exact copy of the original window was being made.

The new permanent window was installed about a week or so after the incident, and is still there 25+ years later.

The writing seems pretty pants at the moment. Sorry. I know I seem to moan a lot in this thread lately and people disagree but I can't get used to Stella's accent (although Michelle Collins is a good actress - mores the annoyance), the whole Steve and Becky thing is tiresome and that pathetic "comedy" fight this evening. Yes, Corrie has it's comedy moments but it's just a bit silly imho.

I think I got over the accent after about two episodes. I see less Cindy Beale and more Stella Price, and I presume that's down to the actress / writing.

Tonights brawl was hilariously overdone, but Corrie has done plenty of that over the years, hasn't it ? An occasional lapse into slapstick every now and again is ok I reckon.

I liked the obligatory bar stool through the window

I don't think Granda actually broke the real glass though as I'd guess it would be quite expensive to replace

They probably used that sugar glass stuff, that breaks as soon as you flick it!

Coronation Street is moving back to it's Wednesday night slot of 7:30pm in 2012. This is to fall in line with Itv1's change of day for the Champions league coverage.

No surprise there, although I did wonder if they might move the Friday episode instead. Seems Emmerdale is staying put though - and ITV are going to venture into sitcoms in the current Corrie slot.

They'll do about 2 or 3 sitcoms, they'll flop and You've Been Framed will be permanently installed in that slot. Emmerdale is going to look really out of place. Ideally they'd drop that as well but they won't, and it would make more sense to have an hour long episode on Thursday (even it it does go part up against Eastenders) so they can make full use of the 8pm hour or even move it back to a Sunday.

It will be great to have Corrie back on a Wednesday. Wednesday nights are rubbish TV for most of the year and the gap between Monday and Thursday is far too long.

Unfortunately it is cost vs choice. If ITV wanted too (and had the cash) the soaps could easily be done with by 8pm, freeing up the next two hours for a variety of genres of programming. Unfortunately though in the current climate their best strategy is to spread the soaps - when Emmerdale and Corrie moved to the 8pm hour on Thursdays ITV basically filled a slot without having to spend anything more than on a cheap filler against EastEnders.

Possiblity of bail-failure for murder, says Fiz's solicitor. As far as I'm aware, those charged with murder don't get bail... Confused
