Phil Collinson did recently say that Steve and Becky wouldn't leave the Rovers.

Just seen on Amazon that a 1990s box set is being released

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Coronation-Street-Best-1990-1999-DVD/dp/B004W2JWCE/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1302690154&sr=8-1&tag=5336653544-21

Pleased about this as ive got hardly any 1990s episodes so it will be good to rewatch selected episodes for the first time since they orginally aired.

Is there a reason why they stopped using the 'exponentially-expanding' upstairs living area

no idea, they will probably say it was hit by a tram and expect us to believe that

can't even remember when we last had a scene up there, certainly not since the tram crash, and that's 7 months ago

I hated that living area, so unrealistic just appearing like that out of nowhere.

And, by the way, the tram crash was in December, not September... Smile

I know it was in december, which is 4 months ago not 7, that's what happens when you try to type a 4 on a numerick keypad and aim too high Wink

(bloody good job i'm not an accountant then)

I found that mystery flat stupid as well, you can just say it's always been there, it's not like a new building we've not seen before, all the upstairs rovers scenes like Annie being burgled / Jack and Vera moving in / Shelley storyline have been in the one front bedroom

maybe Mr Colinson didn't like it either and got rid, funny it disapeared not long after he took over

I've grown tired of Steve and Becky to be honest. They're both just so boring and predictable (especially Becky). Oh, and if Karl and Stella are moving into the Rovers how are they all going to fit in? Are we going to have another Barlow household situation with six or seven people sleeping in three rooms...?

It's been such a long time since the last box set was released, I thought they'd given up. Good that Network is continuing with it. I have the 60s and 70s but not the 80s, so hopefully if the prices are right I'll aim to get both!

Also liking Sylvie Cropper, I think we're seeing her again in tonight's episodes. When she entered the cafe on Monday I had visions of Ena Sharples, Maud Grimes and Blanche Hunt all at once...

I agree, could be a very good character. Laughing

Hmm, not only is her name now not Sylvie, her last name has changed as well (Sylvia Goodwin). Makes sense, I thought it was odd having her named Cropper with all this talk of Roy having a stepfather. Anyway I jumped the gun - it wasn't Friday's episodes. It's Monday's episodes she'll be in. I think. Laughing

I bought the tram crash DVD yesterday for £8.99. I havent got the DVD box set for the 50th anniversary yet - got the books and magazines tho. Looking at Amazon the price of the 50th box sex has dropped so I might get that soon then the 1990s set in September when its released.

I have all 3 box sets - think I bought them all when they were released. However ive held back on the 50th anniversary set due to spending lots of money on all the books, magazines and other stuff for the 50th! Plus a lot of episodes on the 50th box set had already been released on the Network DVDs.

I don't mind Steve and Becky. I feel really sorry for Becky as she has so many enemies - Kyle, Tracy, Liz (for a while), Dev and Sunita. Apart from Steve, Roy & Hayley everyone seems to have it in for her.

Just looking at spoilers for next week and without wanting to give anything away, do we assume that
Todd, Jamie and Violet
are back for just the 1 episode on Easter Sunday?

Just read that Kathrine Kelly (Becky) is leaving the show in early 2012!

Shame really. When Becky arrived for her first stint when she worked in the factory and robbed the money off Kelly Crabtree, I hated her, but since she returned she's really grown on me.

Did anyone else think tonight's Corrie was very poor? The whole Todd storyline was completely pointless and will be forgotten about by tomorrow (or today as it seems tonight's went into Easter Monday too), and there were so few scenes with Jamie and Violet it seemed pointless bringing them back into it. And I also can't stand Antony Cotton because he just plays himself in the show.

No it was poor tonight

I thought it was quite poor as well... seemed rather rushed and I'm not sure I liked the writing either. Shame, as I've always rated Jonathan Harvey in the past. Lately he's turning characters into pantomime versions of themselves.

While it was good to see Todd once again, it did seem a bit pointless just to bring him back for that. We probably won't see him again for another five years!

Tonights show had promise but it was cut too short. Had it been an hour it would have been much better. Did anyone spot the paradox? It was a real blink and you'll miss it moment but they did show a shot of The London Studios Laughing .
