Where about is the Victoria Street block of flats in conjunction with the rest of Coronation Street? I don't think its visible on the tram crash pan out though very often, you can see it in the soap in the background!

I can't remember the name of the song, it was the one that was apparently played in Ireland

and about the flats, do you mean Victoria Court?

Just thought I'd post to see how people are finding the current Street schedule now that it has bedded in. There's a flutter over at the, erm, "other place" Smile about the long gap between Monday's episodes and Thursday's/Friday's episodes.

I must say that I'm getting used to it, but it does seem a bit too long between episodes - i.e., we get two and then starve (well you know what I mean), then we get three all at once in the space of two days. Despite the Thursday slot giving the show a greater security, I did prefer Wednesday's episode - it was conveniently placed and the week flowed much better.

That said, I think the quality of the Street is really good these days under Collinson. We did get a lull with the return of Toxic Barlow in the immediate aftermath of the tram crash, but it's picking up a lot lately. I like how we don't have certain stories rammed down our throats every week - there seems to be a shift in stories from one week (or two) to another, which is good! What's going on with the Fishwick stuff though, we've heard nothing about Hope or indeed John for a good while have we?

I'm getting used to it now too, I did prefer the old schedule though lol

I agree about the quality, I know the recent Jim spoilers have got a few fans up in arms, but I think it's Charlie Lawson's choice - he felt the character had become too soft compared to his old self, and he seemed to want to make a final exit too.

I'm definitely enjoying Corrie much more at the moment. I'd pretty much given up on it last year, which as a life-long viewer was a shame. I just found I didn't care any more about many of the storylines and characters, and had pretty much stopped watching.

I returned to the fold for the tram crash and am now hooked again. It's so much better, with some great storylines focusing on some of the show's strongest characters. I'm glad the likes of Ashley, Claire and Molly have been axed too. They were the three characters I cared least about. Personally I think it's a shame Dev escaped the axe though, but you can't have everything!

As for the current schedule, whilst I originally didn't think it was a good idea, I actually now quite like it. Having the gap between Monday's and Thursday's means I find myself looking forward to Thursday's episode more, or sometimes, just gives me an opportunity to catch up if I've got a backlog of episodes on Sky+.

I've got used to the long gap from Monday's episodes, to the extent where I normally save the Thursday episode until Friday, and watch it with the two broadcast then.

There is an hour of Emmerdale on Thursday, so I still get my 'soap fix'. Laughing

I think the writers are more accustomed to two half hour episodes now, rather than the singular one, Thursday episodes always seem to be filler episodes, though I like Corrie filler episodes

It's been good these last few weeks thanks in part to the absence of the Fishwick saga. Although I note that's due to come back to the fore next week.

Julie is such a good comedy character, and the writers seem to give her some really good material recently. Owen is making for a good baddie as well.

Every character seems to be getting a look in these days, and every story seems interwound, I'm looking forward to the arrival of Tom Duckworth (he'll get Ty out of his rut) and Sylvie Cropper

interesting to see where Dennis Tanner fits into it, maybe to tell all that Elsie has died

or he is coming back to pay Ken the ten bob he owes him for the fag Ken gave him in episode one

talking of which when did ken stop smoking, must have been very early on as my post 1970 childhood memories of the show don't have him smoking at all, yet in the very early 60's episodes he smokes
