I wonder what will happen to the World Cup storyline. Several characters were planning a trip to the World Cup. Was that actually going to happen? I guess it either wouldn't happen for some reason or if it did, it would have been an off screen event.

Whatever happens it will now be out of sync with real events. I had visions of some characters talking about watching an England match that had been on or was going to be on ITV1 that day, maybe even mentioning the score. I wonder if they could edit episodes so certain scenes are brought forward or if they will just show the episodes out of sync until they can catch up. I suppose there is nothing wrong with watching an episode today that was set a few days ago. After all, I think the 9pm episodes this week were all set on the same day anyway.

Tonight's episode would have been the same episode as Wednesday.

I mean if it was in sequence, but either way probably right decision to postpone it tonight.

I agree it will be a pain with episodes being out of sync but there isnt much they can do unless they manage to schedule the extra 3 episodes next week (which would mean 8 rather than 5 eps in the schedules). They wouldnt be able to mention any scores in World Cup Matches as they film 8 weeks in advance. The current episodes would have been filmed in early April. Unless they filmed some last minute scenes to be inserted into the eps.

'Appened across a tv channel here - Granada TV. They are showing episodes of Corrie from around 3 years ago. Tonight hilarious - Blanche, Deirdre, Rita, Eileen and another lady in an Italian restaurant on a night out trying to cheer up Deirdre since Ken was having it away with Denise the Hairdresser.

Blanche's one liners - totally awesome. What an actress Maggie was indeed.

After Deirdre flirted with the young waiter, Blanche went on to tell the group of Deirdre's previous run-in with a waiter and how she became Deirdre Rashid!! LOL.

Hope I can hang onto the channel.........................

Well as I said they film around 8 weeks in advance.

If Corrie returns on Monday they could push Emmerdale to Tuesday and (have a 1 hour episode with Mon/Tues Emmerdale together) and screen 3 eps of Corrie on Monday (7.00, 7.30 and 8.00) and 1 ep on Tues and 1 eps on Wed, then from next Thurs it could be back in line with where it should be.

Wow, Corrie overkill, 90 minutes on Monday ? Emmerdale is already in the schedule for an hour next Tuesday. So you leave Emmerdale untouched, doesn't pay to start messing about with two shows. I'd do :

Monday 19:30 & 20:30 as normal
Tuesday 20:00 - 21:00 (replacing Millionaire)
Wed 19:30 (replacing Lion Country)
Thursday 20:30 (as normal)
Friday 19:30 & 20:30 (as normal)

A bumper week of Corrie, especially for Chewy.

Well they have done 90 minutes on a Monday before (remember Maya's mad Monday Smile ) - normally I wouldn't want 3 eps on one day but they havent got much option.

I hadnt realised Emmerdale was on for an hour on Tuesday - isnt 6x eps a week enough already Rolling Eyes - therefore id go with your schedule! Smile

Anyone remotely affected by the events in Cumbria wasn't likely to be sat watching the TV last night anyway, in which case postponing programmes/adverts etc in the name of 'respect' is rather pointless.

I'm not sure airing the show today either would be very appropriate.

How long do you suggest this self-imposed media censorship should continue?

I wondered how long it would take for that kind of post to be made. There's been a slew of them on Digital Sky.

But did I think it would be Stu that would say such a thing? Actually, no.

Makes you sound something of a sociopath. Or a Digital Spy member.

So which is it?

Pick your potato.

It certainly doesn't make me a sociopath, Gav. Although I do confess to membership of DS.

I am able to empathise with the grief of others without becoming grief-stricken myself. That's a reasonable detachment from an horrific event with which I have no connection (or anyone I know).

My post was simply highlighting the pointlessness of tinkering with TV schedules in the light of real events. I wasn't complaining about ITV's decision, as it doesn't make any difference to me or any other average viewer when the episode is actually broadcast (if at all). I was, however, questioning their motive.

The gesture of postponing/cancelling a programme in the name of 'respect' by ITV, smacks of an arrogant self-importance on their part about the perceived relevance and effect of their broadcasts.

I notice you didn't express a view about how long broadcasters should continue their period of respect.

You are horrendous.

Please re-adjust your perspective, and then read what I'd actually posted!

Don't forget, Corrie owe Emmerdale half an hour, after pinching the 7pm slot on Monday. And Emmerdale is only having 4 episodes this week due to BGT.
