Dead women don't tell tales.

But live ones with brain damage say things that might sound like hallucinations...

True. I thought the implication at the end was that they'd turned the machine off. If not, then we only have three deaths so far, unless they're counting Peter's flatlining.

Did they flick the switch? I might have looked away for a minute.

But until you see a sheet being drawn over her I wouldn't write off her survival. I think it would make an interesting twist after what we saw this week.

Nope - I was just reading between the lines, possibly in error. Probably wishful thinking as I've found the storyline with Stape quite tedious - to date.

The life support machine flatlined as John's shot came on.

Re: Sally Whittaker, we're not going to agree on this Gavin but I've always felt she's fairly wooden. Perhaps it's the fact that her character has always been written as a whingebag (admittedly the cancer storyline is an exception) but even irritating characters can be played with warmth and charm, and I don't warm to her at all. Sorry!

The Bible.

What an intelligent reply.

Err... I'm sorry... Confused

LOL! Where's that from?

It's from the Bible.

So, yes it was.

"The Big 50" was good fun. Good to see that the cast know a lot about the show they are in. Lorraine Kelly did well as well.

Normally premium rate competitons are annoying, but having Jack and Vera read out the t's and c's was amusing.

The thread further down about problems in Yorkshire during Wednesday's Corrie reminded me of something that happened years ago. During the height of the Ken/Deidre/Mike storyline, Corrie wasn't shown as billed one Monday night and instead rescheduled for Wednesday and Thursday (and Channel 4 also showed an unbilled omnibus the following Sunday night). ISTR this was due to an industrial dispute (at Granada?) - can anyone confirm?

Around the same time a lot of Tyne Tees viewers in the south of the region missed an episode due to a power cut, and Tyne Tees repeated the episode the following evening on the Bilsdale transmitters instead of showing Northern Life, the local news magazine. You wouldn't get that happening now - although with all the repeats/omnibuses/view on demand services, I suppose there's no real need.

I only saw about half an hour of it, but Norris and Mary on Countdown was very enjoyable. Cool

How did they get around the 'loss' of the news bulletin then? Surely they would've got in trouble with the IBA?

Not sure if they did a brief 'headlines' bulletin.. Northern Life lasted 35 minutes usually, so they would have had time.

Found the answer to my own question here. Seems EETPU held a meeting regarding pay on the evening of Monday 14 February 1983 so Granada went off-air and Coronation Street was resceduled as above.

Why has this conversation suddenly gone back to 1983? We should all be happy that Barbara Knox is still playing Rita and we are not all in mourning.

But for how long? We have seen three deaths so far, but the fourth is yet to occur - and I'm really hoping it it's not Rita. There's a lot of speculation elsewhere on the internet, however... and anyway Barbara may want to call it a day after nigh on 30 years.

"What happened??"
"A tram fell off the viaduct."
"A tram...? [...] What is it wi' me an' trams?"

If that last one isn't the best line of the year, I dare you to find me another.
