Sally would not have been allowed in anyway, she'd be interfering with an ongoing rescue operation and contaminating a crime scene (which it is until they determine the cause of the incident).

No, its an accident scene unless they have a reason to suspect otherwise, and there are no hard and fast rules about allowing people there to assist - only guidelines.

Just watching the repeat on ITV1 and it sounds like a lot of the time the actors were queued to start their scenes by the voices of the firemen in the background.

Great episode! It didn't feel live at all! Brilliantly done, well done Corrie!

You mean: Well done for doing it live, even though you needn't have bothered!

I mean when I was watching it it didn't feel live, felt like the rest of the episodes this week. Last time they did it live you could see the difference when they went from scene to scene. Im saying well done cos they made it feel realistic.

In which case there was no point doing it live, might have well just recorded them (I've not watched it all yet so I can't comment whether it did or not)

Mind you I'm not exactly sure what the point of doing a live episode anyway!

On a not totally unrelated subject . . . I've been trying to recall what the interior of the factory originally looked like
when Steve had his t-shirt print shop business (DUN 2 A T) in there, and shortly after Mike Baldwin re-established
the place as Underworld. As I recall, the original interior of the premises, was the actual interior of the building
itself rather than a studio set, and not much more than half the size of the current interior.

Any screengrabs or short videoclips from VHS tape would be fine. Thanks.

1 - Get's so much more buzz around the episode - it will no doubt get better ratings just for being live ( like EE's 25th did earlier this year - it would't have got what it did without it being live)
2 - Tribute to the past - as they used to be done live
3 - it's a treat for the viewers to see something that doesn't happed often - only the second time in 50 years ( baring the 1st episodes)

So you really saying that if they would have made a mistke that would have been better - does it not show the strength of Corrie's actors/directing etc that nothing wen't wrong!

I know what Jez means. Sometimes live episodes have a different 'feel' to standard recorded ones - even something as minor as a brief pause at the start of a scene, a brief camera wobble, etc affects the flow (not a criticism, just an observation). This episode had very few, if any, examples of this, which is a great compliment to the cast and crew.

The 40th episode went off without a hitch too (there was a slight shot with lighting equipment in, but it was barely visible)

It was a very small space, just a main production room, with about 8 workstations and an office with a glass wall & venetian blinds. I'm sure it did have a studio set as well though for bigger scenes, a bit like Kathy's in EastEnders

Edit: seems it was a hoax!

IT was live once a week for the first 3 months, I think Wednesday was live and then there record the Friday one, but a strike put an end to the live ones.
