I really think the main problem with the CGI tram crash scene was the shot were the driver was seen, just before it hit the Corner Shop. For me, that was the only bit which looked fake - the tram coming off the viaduct, and even the second carriage hitting The Kabin, seemed plausible IMO.

As for tonights episode, brilliant! Lots of action packed into the half hour. I was surprised to see the standard opening titles used, I loved the ariel shot of Weatherfield just after the titles though, I think that must be the one where the viewer can see the Red Rec?

its was the second carriage that did it for me!, If tram going the other way come along then maybe just maybe

I missed the crash episode - does any kind soul happen to have an interlaced capture of the action, even in SD? Very Happy

It's on ITV Player, STV Player etc (if you can get that on the islands?)

I think with the gravity of the situation, the usual opening titles and closing credits spoil it somewhat. It would've
been better if the opener was just the wide shot of Weatherfield, without the theme music, overlayed with the
program title text, then straight to the first scene overlayed with and Writer/Director name credits.

The closer should be the same wide shot as the opener, then faded to black after a few seconds, and the end
credits over a plain black background, with the sounds of all the chaos still going on in the background.
And importantly ... no continuity announcer waffling over the end credits ... FFS!!!

Another great episode tonight! I am loving the ITV News reports on the website, on tonights they have even offered a hotline number to ring up. Adds a greater sense of realism to the story for me

We can, but the quality is pretty poor (not sure if it's trying to accomodate to my connection, but it's much worse than iPlayer), and I'd really like to see it at the full interlaced frame rate. I'll catch the omnibus, but wouldn't mind being able to scrub back and forth through a recording.

You'd think those emergency services would just be waiting around the corner considering how often they're called to Coronation Street.

And speculation but...
I would guess tomorrows show might end with a second explosion to set up the live show. And as for Rita - that's what I was thinking too, but perhaps a red herring. Although a loss, would be good to see a stalwart of the show bow out too considering most other names in the frame have generally been there months rather than years.

Enjoyed tonights episode far more than last nights. I didnt want it to end!

Also enjoying the special programme on ITV1 right now - some great memories and nice to see actors from years ago commenting like the actors who played Emily Bishop's hubby Ernie and also Dennis Tanner.

The news reports could be so much better. There are just a few little things that don't seem real. Why did the reporter refer to 'the Rovers'? She should have just called it 'a pub'. Why could we see the reporter just standing there looking board when she threw back to the studio?

Sorry to bother you Macalolo, but I'm in Ireland so I can't view these news reports. Would you know of any places where I could find them?
