The bricks sometimes were there and sometimes slowly dissepeared for me depending on which shot was on screen at any particular time. Probably my TV over processing everything Smile

Anyway, as for the tram crash, overall i don't think the effect worked for me. Despite being very well executed, it still looked like an 'effect' and so took away from the realism a show like Corrie normally portrays.

I was surprised they chose to make the tram crash shots have the same fluid motion of interlaced video as the rest of the show. It made it look different to most effects of this type certainly.

What i really was impressed by was Graeme Harpers directing. Fantastic lighting, fantastic camera shots, fantastic tension building up by quick cutting. Very very well done!

The grainy black & white 50 year old repeat was sooo much better than the current melodramatic over-acted dross it was sandwiched between. The hilariously bad crash only just made up for the 60 minutes of crap leading up to it.

The second carriage felt like it was a monster hand just smashing the place up. I thought it was good but felt a bit doctor who like in terms of using CGI. I just feel like it was too big for what corrie is but it was good.

Wow.

Why did Alistair Stewart not explain to the viewers where Weatherfield is? This was a national bulletin, wasn't it? Would viewers in the south know where Weatherfield is? How did that reporter not only get there so quickly but also manage to get live pictures out so soon?

There also seems to be some confusion, is the reporter Caroline Hacking or Caroline Whitmore?

The build up was fantastic - talk about tension!!

On the actual crash itself - I'm going ot reserve judgement until I've seen it again - as it all wen't so quick. Laughing
I think the only thing that I definitely didn't like was the fact you saw the tram driver just before impact - just seemed funny to me. I agree with most of the others though, that the 2nd carriage was a little strange. But as I said i'll reserve judgement. I think it's just becuase it's so out of place in Corrie that people are a bit like "oh i don't know what to think"

I don't think it's real. I could be wrong of course. Wink

Well the crash scene is very handy for ITV Granada!

Personally I think a maybe not 100% realistic looking crash was much better than a crash happening off screen (maybe with the camera fixed on the faces of horror of Ken etc) which is the other alternative.

Apparently she was in a school in Weatherfield which was "just around the corner"...

Would it surprise you to know that the effect was done by The Mill? the same Mill that does all the effects for Dr Who?

Yes, that's my only criticism I think. Don't really think we needed to see the driver at all. The tram crashing would have been fine.

But brilliant episode, look forward to the rest of the week.

That explains the incorrect ITV News logo too.
