I rang the Radio Times subscription dept. yesterday to enquire about getting a full set of the different covers from a mixture of regions and the woman at the end of the phone was adement that they didn't exist and only one cover was produced. I insisted that they're promoted on the RT website, she said she'd check it out. I'm still waiting for her to get back to me. Sad

Eastenders to feature Corrie reference
Quote:
EastEnders is to pay tribute to Coronation Street by mentioning the rival soap on its 50th anniversary, DS can confirm.

The ITV show reaches its milestone on Thursday, December 9, when an hour-long live episode will air showing the aftermath of a tram crash disaster on the cobbles.

In an EastEnders episode airing on the night, Albert Square's Dot Branning (June Brown) will reference the show during a conversation with Kat Moon (Jessie Wallace) in the launderette.

After Kat asks Dot whether she will be attending choir rehearsals that night, the Walford favourite replies: "Oh no, not tonight. Tonight I'm going to open a bag of marshmallows, share them with Jim and watch Corrie!"

She adds: "I love it, it's my favourite. Never miss it."

A Walford source told The Sun: "We did it as a tribute. Hopefully they will return the favour when we turn 50!"

The EastEnders episode in question will air immediately before Coronation Street's live transmission.

EastEnders and Coronation Street recently joined together for Children In Need special EastStreet, in which Walford and Weatherfield twinned with each other.

It's not the first time EastEnders will have referred to Coronation Street in the show universe.

I remember Corrie being mentioned during a game of charades in the Beale flat in Walford Towers over Christmas 1987, and one of Arthur's questions on "Cat and Mouse" in 1989 was about Ena Sharples.

Where is Liz supposed to be ?

They've gone to the bother of bringing big Jim back, and she hasn't had a scene with him. Seems a bit disjointed.

Also, aren't they overdoing the tram sounds a bit ? Heard in the Barlows house tonight.

I wondered this also. Years and years not a hint of any trams near the street, then over the past few weeks, the odd sound their horns make etc... Laughing

Yeah, talk about dropping hints! :lol I wonder if it's connected with the disappearance of the Weatherfield Wayfarer.

I agree! Where is Liz? But at least Jim seems to be thinking the same as us. "Is ya mother here?" "Ya mother's avoiding me so she is?!"

Liz's disappearance is strange - and so is her continuing appearance on Loose Women - It's almost as if she's left the show already

It is very strange - I, like you, was thinking that she is acting as if she has already left the show, however on Loose Women today, she said she'd be back up there in 'a few weeks'

So she won't be in the 50th Anniversary episodes? That would be a shame...

The tram sounds are heard whenever a character that is or might be leaving appears...
