They should have just aired it. It's not like Tony is going on the rampage in the street shooting people, tonights episode would have been quiet compared to what is going to happen later in the week.

Presumably even tonights show would have featured characters being held at gunpoint, and to put that out in primetime after the events of today would be extremely insensitive.

ITV have done the right thing here, I can guarantee that if they hadn't there would be outrage on this very forum probably along with a several hundred complaints to OFCOM.

Sometimes real life events are more important than TV and the slight scheduling headache it presents.

Can't they just postpone this episode until the next time they're prepared to show it and then just shove the rest up by one or two episodes?

they can't really do that - it's halfway through the storyline - 2 people have alread been kidnappped!

They can, it doesn't affect the storyline it just means that everyone will see the episodes a day or 2 later than they would have done. The chronology is still there

sorry misunderstood your post - I was mainly replying to DVB Cornwall post anyway!

Particularly if it featured this scene (image taken from page 1004 of the old thread...

Very good point

And tonight's episode would have featured a gunshot.

ITV still don't seem to know what will happen in terms of re-scheduling. Certainly they've been reluctant to say when the the next episode will air.

Because they're examining the situation and make a decision probably by 5pm or so tomorrow. It would be very insulting to say they're not showing an episode today out of respect for the victims today, but then tell them once they've had 24 hours to grieve they'll do what they like.

Would make sense to hold until Monday at least, unless they get the cast into the studio tomorrow after rewriting the plot overnight.

That would create a sizeable backlog, and with the World Cup approaching, it would be a long time until they would be able to get them up to date

Actually the World Cup could work in their favour as apart from football and soaps, there is nothing stable in the schedule for the next few weeks - so extra episodes of Corrie could be added in last minute.

It's also possible, but not preferred, that the three episodes will be edited into two - especially if they deem certain scenes need removing.

From reading the spoilers in full it seems it was a good decision to pull it. I tried to avoid spoilers for this week as well, first time i've got into a Corrie storyline for a good few months.

Plus that pic is from Fridays episode

do you really believe they can knock out a new episode of Corrie from scratch in less than a day? Sounds more implausible than Gail's storyline at the moment.

Could they not show the extra ep on Friday...by moving News at Ten to 2230, they could show an hour of Corrie from 2100...or show the ep at 2200.

That would be the easiest solution and moving News at Ten later on a Friday would be nothing new.

I am wondering if they will just drop Corrie for the rest of the week tho and show the eps next Monday with extra eps on Tuesday and Wednesday to make up for the ones missed.

Given will and the necessary application yes, writing 25 minutes of television around an existing set with a stable cast, and videoing it shouldn't be an impossible task.

Far too many artificial hurdles are set in the way of things I'll agree these days.

and as has been said before, you don't need extra episodes.

Bit of a strange one (probably already suggested, apologies) but perhaps they could re-jig the Britain's Got Talent line-up and try make the show half-hour shorter tomorrow?

7.30 to 8.30 - Britain's Got Talent
8.30 to 9.00 - Corrie
9.00 to 9.30pm - Britain's Got Talent Results
9.30 to 10.00pm Corrie
10pm - ITV News

Erm, BBC One is currently broadcasting a film about a hitman, which features gunshots galore...

I don't think there'd want to do that - BGT brings in a lot of ad revenue for them - so really there'll want to keep BGT as it is - plus as others have suggested during a big show like BGT , some ad's are sold to be shown at a certain time during the show.
