good colaborating with competing soaps, like the Asian characters taking the rise out of Asian steriotyping

You fundamentally misinterpreted the scene. It was just the kind of snobby comparison that a very conservative Asian woman like Zainab would make when sizing up another Asian woman. Nothing to do with stereotyping.

, and is it me or is Christian's gay character more believeable that Sean's

They're both as bad in different ways.

They made such a big deal out of developing a non-stereotypical gay character only to 'replace' him with Sean, a walking stereotype.

I think the things is, Antony Cotton is essentially playing himself: The story goes that AC contacted Tony Wood, with the vision of getting himself a role on the Street-- and thus the role was of Sean was 'specially' created for AC. However I know that from a magazine interview that AC did-- so less charitable people may suggest that he was being a tad self-aggrandising there Wink

There is a synopsis available now of the episodes the week after the crash :

The Street's residents awake to see the full extent of the destruction caused by the tram crash. Those in hospital continue to fight for their lives - while others are keen to cover their tracks. Has the explosion blown the lid off more than just The Joinery?

As families struggle to come to terms with the loss of loved ones, relationships come under fire and some life-changing decisions have to be made. Gary is wracked with shame for not doing more to help and Becky is feeling guilty for what she did that night. She meets up with Kylie and threatens to kill her if she ever comes near her again - but will Becky hand over the money from the corner shop? Steve is already suspicious of Becky's behaviour when it emerges that the shop's CCTV camera has survived intact.

At the hospital one family is given hope but others are fearful when they are told that their child needs a blood transfusion. A fire officer arrives to investigate and asks why the gas problems at The Joinery were not reported - but who is to blame? The funerals begin and at one interment a fight breaks out at the graveside, to the shock and horror of the mourners. Friendships are tested to the limit as the finger of blame over the disaster is pointed.

Andrew Lancel has joined the cast of Coronation Street, taking on the role of new character Frank Foster.

The actor - best known for playing DI Neil Manson in The Bill - will make his first appearance on the cobbles early next year when Frank is introduced as one of Carla Connor's (Alison King) business associates.

According to the ITV soap's official website, Frank goes on to become a new factory client before pursuing Carla's right hand woman Michelle (Kym Marsh) as he looks for love.

Speaking of his new part, Lancel commented: "I'm made up to be here. It's been a long time coming and I'm a big fan of the show so I'm thrilled."

He added: "Frank looks like he's going to be fun to play, there's more to him than meets the eye, he's definitely not one-sided."

As well as The Bill, Lancel's screen credits include roles in medical drama Cardiac Arrest, Bad Girls and Queer as Folk.

Knew it wouldn't be long before some of The Bill were heading over to the cobbles! Laughing

What a pity they couldn't even be bothered to spell Altrincham correctly. Confused
