"Goodnight Dad"

Beautiful, beautiful ending.

The scene with Jack and Vera was poignant and subtle. No overblown emotion. Just a gentle send-off to an iconic street couple.

A very nice couple of episodes tonight: probably the first time I haven't skipped scenes for quite a while.

The direction in the second episode was very good during Jack's final scenes: especially the somewhat confused reflection of the noisy street as the camera moved around Jack, and then the final pull-out through the floors and to the overhead street view.

It brought a tear to my eye.

Thought it was a brilliant and fitting end, especially Vera's appearance. Jack got some good final scenes, a nice tribute.

How many deceased characters have ever re-appeared in a soap ?

Didn't Trisha come back in Emmerdale, as a ghost sitting on a bench taking to Marlon?

It was a very subtle, but fitting end to Jack's life tonight. I agree with some that the other storylines - Sophie/Sian and Leanne/Nick should have been left out of the second episode, though.
Unfortunately, STV viewers were treated to the announcer two seconds into the credits, and the squishy ECP.

it was a lovely episode tonight with Emily, Rita, Betty and the others with Jack in the Rovers and also lovely to see Jack and Vera reunited!

It's also telling to see how much they've both aged since their 80s heyday. A lovely little scene spelling the end of an era.

Well you would, thirty years on wouldn't you?

Billie in EastEnders? I can't remember if he was born on screen.
Ken Barlow's daughter? Peter's twin sister.
There have been a number of infant deaths too.

Ken Barlow's daughter was called Susan and yes she was born and died in the show. Although played by 4 different actresses.
