Plus the descriptions for next week no doubt say something like "The street's residents are left reeling by last week's events" or something equally non-spoilerish. They'd be left with 5 mins per episode if any reference was edited out.
... so, things happen it's a risk that all dramatisations have to face.
In this case ITV have been 'caught'. Serves them right producing a continuing drama with a violent denoument.
So we shouldn't have any violence on television at all? What about cricket? People could be attacked by a cricket bat and having to drop hours and hours of cricket coverage is not a risk ITV should take.
I didn't say anything about playing it out of sequence, I simply propose they drop the programme for a few days. Maybe reshowing Monday and Tuesday to pick up the plot on resumption.
They should have just aired it. It's not like Tony is going on the rampage in the street shooting people, tonights episode would have been quiet compared to what is going to happen later in the week.
TV3's website is still showing Corrie listed at 9pm, however as this is a simulcast from the UK, it obviously won't be shown.
Is it a simulcast? Surely that would be expensive, pointless and prone to technical issues. I would guess that TV3 have the episode stored locally ready to play out. It maybe that their contract says they are not allowed to play it if ITV1 don't for whatever reason or it might be that TV3 decide not to show it anyway for the same reasons that ITV1 have stated.
it's not a simulcast but Emmerdale and Corrie have to be played out at the ITV advertised time ( When ITV was showing the F1 and Corrie was delayed TV3 had to stick in some filler programme )
It's apparently because UTV objected to any transmission before they could show it ,rumour is that UTV did that because TV3 objected to UTV being on the Sky EPG in the Republic .
RTE , like with the recent Eastenders , never had a problem showing the programmes before UTV when they showed both shows .
There is no way they will redo the entire storyline. They have a few options - they can show tonights episodes tomorrow and be 1 episode behind until a suitable slot to catch up is found, they can drop the show until Monday therefore being 3 episodes behind and add an extra episode every week until they catch up (could be tricky with the World Cup around the corner), or they could just edit 2 episodes together as 1 episode and cut a huge chunk of scenes out of the particular storyline.
Can't they just postpone this episode until the next time they're prepared to show it and then just shove the rest up by one or two episodes?
they can't really do that - it's halfway through the storyline - 2 people have alread been kidnappped!
They can, it doesn't affect the storyline it just means that everyone will see the episodes a day or 2 later than they would have done. The chronology is still there
