Is anybody else in the West country having difficulty recording from their Freeview box digitally?

I have a Humax F2-FOX T, and a Sony DV Cam. I tried to record to the cam from the box, and it gave me the copy protection notice. I've tried all sorts of stuff to see what's wrong, and can't get anything to work. It's happening even when I don't have a channel on, just the menu. Presumably this would affect a DVD recorder too.

I use the cam to get clean recordings to burn to DVD once I've captured it with my laptop. This is very irritating, especially as there have been no problems like this for the year and a half that I've had Freeview.

I've tried Digital Spy already, just wanted to increase the possibility of getting an answer. Sorry if it's in the wrong forum.

Sounds like a box problem to me, especially as the problem still occurs when the menu is on.

Sounds like the box had "not-quite-crashed" - but got confused.

Many digital receivers include Macrovision copy-protection hardware that can be applied to analogue outputs (you can't macrovision a digital signal per se) - but broadcasters have to pay Macrovision a fee to activate it I believe - and I think only the pay-per-view stuff on ON/ITV Digital used it on terrestrial.

However some boxes have, in the past, incorrectly started applying it (Grundig boxes had a fault that did it I believe)

Sky apply the Macrovision to many of their Sky Box Office movies (though not all the live events) - you can tell if it is being applied by the presence of a "C" on the search and scan banner (C for copy protected)
