Yeah, whatever your thoughts on Scarborough the end shot panning out over the town and then the credits appearing was 1000x better than Benidorm ending with a black background. Makes me wonder how/why those couple of shows last Christmas got through the net on ITV.
ECPs were being complained about on PoV last week for anyone wanting a look. One comment was that they became “illegible” when squeezed which is crazy as the BBC at least just shunts them to the side, full height. I think they must have been confused with ITV. Anyway, they had a guy on ranting about it but the show didn’t even bother to get a response from the BBC. I know it would have been some generic nonsense about being ‘important to highlight programmes’ and ‘credits aren’t generally of interest’ but there should have been some reply. Not sure whether it was deliberate but I did like the irony of the announcer talking over the very short credits at the end. Don’t know if they normally do that!
The BBC can be good but sometimes they’re still desperate to promote - Holby ended a special episode with a song running into the credits the other week (I think for the first time ever) but of course there had to be an announcer and ECP. Creatively it must be frustrating that they go to that effort once in a while for little point.

It's worse that over the last 19 years they've got blander and blander.

They most likely won't in the same way they haven't "updated" the BBC logo to Reith - because it would probably look a bit naff.
I wonder when BBC Four will update the logo to Reith.

Going a bit off topic here but that was the good thing originally with the iPlayer - you could get the credits in full. However increasingly it seems to be the broadcast version with the ECP uploaded to the iPlayer, and now with the iPlayer and certainly Netflix and Now TV as soon as the credits kick in the screen is covered in other things you may want to watch and counting down to play the next episode before the credits even finish.

Yes, you can go back to the full screen and let the credits run to the end.
What if a show or movie has something AFTER the credits? That countdown would cut it off before you get to that! I would hope that those services have something in the settings that can disable that feature, as it is NOT a selling point.

If there are things after the credits, then they should be run to the end by default, for example The Thick Of It on BBC iPlayer has scenes within the credits so they are not squeezed with a countdown to the next episode during them.
Basically someone at the BBC/Netflix/Prime Video etc. should have watched the programme and decided when is a safe point to squeeze the credits without ruining anything important during or after them.
