VERNON Kay is set to host Family Fortunes.

The TV star husband of Strictly Come Dancing presenter Tess Daly is being lined up to present a prime-time version of the gameshow, fronted by Les Dennis for 15 years until 2002.

An ITV1 insider said: "Vernon is over the moon - contracts will be signed any day. He's a huge fan of the show. It'll be on Saturday nights from early next year."

Bosses were said to be "hugely impressed" with former model Vernon's appearance on last month's Gameshow Marathon, hosted by Ant and Dec.

Vernon, 31, battled against Countdown's Carol Vorderman in a special edition of Family Fortunes.

The source added: "Vernon is hot property right now."

It'll be great to finally see an old game show back. ITV made a huge mistake when they got rid of them. To be honest they should've never messed around with the FF concept back in 2002. Les Dennis was doing a fantastic job and I'm sure the ratings were fine when it was previously on Saturday evenings, until Carlton made it into a 'wrecked for daytime' version with that Andy Collins. Mad Still I can't wait to see Vernon's version in due course. Very Happy
