A word of warning to anyone planning to buy the DVDs of BG series 1-3. Bad Girls was made and broadcast in widescreen from the start, but the early DVDs are 4:3 cutout. About time they were re-done, methinks.

For me something like that doesnt bother me.

I never watched after the third series - it just got way over the top - but I do not understand this move.

The viewer ratings were quite good. Unless of course, ITV have found a surefire winner to replace it.

But viewers here could not get DTT until late 1999, ie. after Series 1 had been broadcast. So we've never seen it "properly", so to speak.

I very much doubt that based on previous decisions by ITV Plc.

The ratings for the final series weren't very good, the averaged 4.7 million, but got as low as 4.2m for the 4th episode

But as you know andrew commissions are NOT based on actual vieweing figures but on percentage on population watching TV at that time and in that scenario it was getting a very healthy percentage (I can't name figures as I don't have them)!

But as I said in another thread Simon Shaps seems to be clearing out the cupboard of most programmes before the start of his true term - i.e. the start of his teams commissions hence probably the reason for axing Where The Heart Is, Stars In Their Eyes, etc... and I bet the axe won't stop there. I feel that The Royal could be heading for its last run and possibly Heartbeat and quite a few other drama's and programmes. The same thing happened during the 1960's when ITV cleared more or less the whole of its schedules and started from scratch.
