Alright...Alright...

Anyway, I'm not stuck at a computer 24 hours a day - I took 2 months off from this forum!

Yes, but standardisation can only work to a degree. I don't think you can have EVERYTHING the same wherever you are, and a few subtle differences can make it a bit more interesting.

I know LDN is NOT subtle - but they still loosely fit in with the standardised theme. If you heard the music on its own I don't think many forum members would not recognise it as a BBC news programme.

And the generic aspects are still there - music, graphics, that bloody metallic rail behind the presenter!

500th post by the way Smile

Finally someone who agrees with me - everyone seems to be saying 'EEERRRR it's nothing like generic BBC look'- i have no idea what they're on about - it's got everything the BBC is recognised for - even the plasma screens!!! I don't know what everyone has against it; true, Emily Matlice should be hung (see my sig) and Gillian and Jules should take over the world (but we can't have everything Smile ) - but the news is essentially the same BBC quality - besides, we had decades to get used to NRSE, so it may take a while to get used to LDN. the time will come when no-one will realise that anything else ever existed and that Jules Botfield and Gillian Joseph are the centre of the Universe (OOPS DID I SAY THAT OUT LOUD Shocked )

You mean the documentaries at 7.30pm on Tues or Thurs and those on Sunday lunchtimes?

When would they be shown on BBC One? After midnight in the 'graveyard' slot?

It's too confusing isn't it?

Some sources say that the 7.30pm Thursday shows will be shown at 10.35pm and become more lifestyle orientated...

Yes you are right - They will move to BBC1 and scheduled before 10pm. Its part of the BBC promise of more regional broadcasting.
The format will change slightly too, into 3 mini-reports in one programme.

What's everyone got against UK Today? I'd rather have that than LDN!

I'll second that!

I'd rather see a mixture of stories from around the country than just London stories for two reasons:

(1) the mixture might well include at least one story from my region, so that at least a few minutes of the programme will be relevant to me. Whereas the entire duration of LDN is irrelevent to every non-Londoner.

(2) Some things happening in various other regions might be a damn sight more interesting than what's happening in my region and/or LDN. And without UK Today I would never otherwise hear of such stories.

It is reason number (2) that attracted me away from my region (MidsTdy) to UK Today when I first got Sky, and has kept me preferring it ever since. (plus also the fact that MidsTdy is sh*t).

I will miss UK Today.

I can imagine in a years time It will be called 'The ill-fated Uk Today'

It was always going to be ill-fated though - it was only ever going to be a stopgap until the regions became available on satellite.

I want to know if the 'press red' option will always be availiable or once you select a region that is it?

If the regions are going out on the transponders used for the BBC Sport interactive services -what will they be on? - will they switch the regions off or is that too complicated?
