I've just been thinking. Currently, on Telewest Cable Digital, I recieve UK Today on BBC Two at 3.20pm. What will I get? Because BBC2 Digital is not split into the regions for me!
You will probably get the new back-up region, which will almost certainly be BBC London.

I suspect they might drop the BBC Two bulletin in mid-afternoon and move it to BBC One in January as the regional documentary programmes are also set to move for the same reason...

You mean the documentaries at 7.30pm on Tues or Thurs and those on Sunday lunchtimes?
When would they be shown on BBC One? After midnight in the 'graveyard' slot?
Seriously though, pure standardisation would be sheer boredom wouldn't it? I think we need at least one loose cannon to give us a bit of variety in the field of BBC regional news!
I really like the presentation of BBC LDN. I'm not just saying that because its my default region, because they don't provide me with any local news in any shape or form.
I think more regional news programmes from the BBC should be given a bit more independence, a bigger budget and a whole load of inspiration so we can have more snazzy presentation across the country.
(And I bet everyone disagrees with me on that....)

I like the idea that BBC News has a generic look and feel.
Anyone know where I can find more video bits of LDN?
Yes, but standardisation can only work to a degree. I don't think you can have EVERYTHING the same wherever you are, and a few subtle differences can make it a bit more interesting.
I know LDN is NOT subtle - but they still loosely fit in with the standardised theme. If you heard the music on its own I don't think many forum members would not recognise it as a BBC news programme.
And the generic aspects are still there - music, graphics, that bloody metallic rail behind the presenter!

Yeah - I post in moderation! I don't spend 24 hours a day 7 days a week talking about television presentation unlike some! (Cough cough) I have a life outside of this room!
