For those of us who don't live in the west could someone please upload a video of the ident and titles featuring Concorde.

NWT used to do a similar thing with their weather when Dianne used to record the Lunchtime forecast (between Heather leaving and Nicola arriving). Gordon always used to look across the studio and Dianne always looked back at the end. I think their major downfall was when Stuart presented instead of Gordon but Dianne handed back to Gordon, oops.

Points West Concorde Titles 26-11-03

No ident, this is from the lunchtime Points West. I would have taped the later ones, but had no tapes left. DAMN!

Anyway, it's my birthday today, and it was great to see Concorde comming in to land from my front garden. The weather was crap, so I didn't do the 20 min walk from my house to Filton airfield with my parents, but they told me there were 1000s out there and Little Stoke roundabout (5 mins walk from the airfield) was chocker full of cars parked up for the event.

Hang on... I'm getting an odd feeling of flashback, and the letters M, H and P running around my head...!

Damn... I was intending to go to Heathrow to watch the take off, I woke up in time, but I fell asleep and didnt wake up until lunchtime when a friend decended upon me. That ruined my chances of watching the landing live Evil or Very Mad

Anyway, said freind annoyed me by drinking all my coffee and I missed landing, however, turning on telly just after the event, good old Sky had coverage, and with the BBC, well you would never of known it was flying.

So I was pleased Sky covered it, but did have a sneaking suspicion that Sky News, like it's tabloid sisters, goes for the popular public interest stories. Did the BBC cover it?

I was flicking around the channels and NONE of the news channel (afaik) covered the take-off from Heathrow (i could be wrong!) I caught glimpses of the take-off shown on ITV1 within This Morning courtesy of LNN!

I thought the BBC would have reeled off another one of their news specials over on BBC one for an event like this! But obviously it was such a momentus occassion and event that the news specials dont cover stories that matter!

Anyway all three news channels did show the landing at Filton and were nothing special with all the pomp and ceremony of the previous commerical landings!

Both regional stations, BBC One West and ITV1West, both dedicated their regional news programmes to the plane and broadcast live from Filton. I wont comment on the content of the 18:30 bulletins as I only watched them both briefly!

How come Points West always seem to use the Capoeira ident? And where have the Acrobats gone?? The Acrobats ident has disappeared on alot of Regions! Does anyone know why??

They use Tai Chi and (I think) Skateboard quite a bit too.

Yeah. Acrobats is now rarely used. Ever since it was temporarily withdrawn for a couple of days or so, we have been using Capoeria, Skateboarders and Tai Chi as well and it is better than just having boring Acrobats all the time! Razz

Look East always seem to use Capoeria. But recently they have introduced a Skateboarders ident. Where is the Acrobats ident?!?

I didnt see any of the TV coverage, but on my way to the SBES show in London I did see Concorde take off for the final time, she flew directly over the coach I was on. Totally amazing site too, and I miss her flying over my house everyday.

Points West re-ran the shots of Concorde's landing at Filton at the end of their show tonight (27/11). They also includied some footage of Concorde flying over the Clifton Suspension Bridge - truly wonderful stuff.
