Top marks to ITN for getting Nick and Felicity together to narrate. "That looks like Mary Nightingale's handbag! You'd need a posse for that..." Very Happy

Yes and "Joan Collins leading the way there, as you'd expect". Laughing

And as Mary came down the steps and kissed two BA men, Nicholas replied, "Well, she never greets me like that!"

I think the award for best coverage has to go to Sky News today. An ex Concorde pilot in the studio all day gave their coverage an edge which the other channels couldn't touch.

Also the in-flight video they have just shown.

Yet the BBC managed to talk to the pilot flying the actual flight from New York in the air trafic control centre at Heathrow, was live inside a concorde on the ground, had a studio on the tarmac with the BA chief executive and a former pilot commentating, also the helicopter above the airport seeing the concordes on the tarmac was exclusive to BBC, Sky had its' 'Skycopter' although that was only above central London... and now theres a nice montage of todays events with music soundrack playing on BBC Newe24 to end the hour (nice view of concorde flying over the London eye there)

... so how do you get to the conclusion that Sky was the best I dont know.

I quite agree, BBC won hands down. Coverage was brilliantly planned and produced, and really enjoyable to watch. They conveyed it excellently

Indeed, and also 'That looks like Nick Robinson though I don't think it is, he's too busy worrying about Ian Duncan Smith'

and 'In front of Mary there is a collegue from the BBC, we won't name him but its Jeremy Bowen'.

That former World Business Report bloke was also in the journalists group, and Nick mentioned how he apparantly knew him and how outlandish he is.

Nick presented from 3.30pm-5.30pm, much longer than his usual hour, and taking over Steve Scott's time

ITV's coverage looked definally to be most entertaining

Very good coverage from BBC and Sky News... I saw the chopper circling over London as I went down to Gunnesbury Park to see/film the planes coming in! Also on N24 with the celebrities coming off the plane - anyone see Richard Quest give a smile to the BBC cameras as he came off the plane? lol! Obviously being an ex-BBC man he recognised a few people!

It's a sad day for much of my family as Brian Trubshaw was actually my Great Uncle... I'm sure if he were still here today, he would have had something to say about this...

Goodbye Concorde.

BBC News had the whole thing covered and presented a view of the whole event which was unequaled. Talking about the former WBR presenter, Richard Quest who now works for CNN, when the plane was taxiing in Heathrow he was talking down the line on his mobile on board the aircraft to Atlanta and it was on Your World Today. I thought that was a nice touch, rather like Rageeh Omar in Baghdad on the day the city fell, but a bit less dramatic.

I'll second that - fabulous. I think I can safely say that it was the best News 24 produced special that I've seen. There wasn't a technical glitch in the whole programme, and Jon Sopel was, as usual, brilliant at his job.

I've never understood this liking for Jon Sopel that so many people here have. I find him irritating to watch, he bounces all over the place and always sounds nervous.

As for coverage... well I flicked to the ITV News Channel and stuck with it, briefly flicking to News 24 and Sky News. Neither particularly grabbed my attention, but Nick and Felicity were excellent on ITV News. Richard Branson as studio guest was brilliant too, the whole presentation was a lot more watchable than the other offerings.
