the tv output has been awful - particularly sound wise - and the pauses have been agonising.
you would hope this is down to over zealous interference from the princes (and their advisers) about what exactly the production company could and could not do (this could have been the case, given what i've heard). otherwise it was a shocking attempt at covering a flagship concert.
oh and this must be the latest time that regional news has been shown on a sunday in ages?
Well, that's that then. You did sense a distinct lack of communication between the concert organisers and the BBC - I *assume* BBC Resources actually did all the filming, but the way things (especially audio) were handled between acts was truly bizarre - surely if it had been a case of allowing people to opt-in and out they'd have just produced a separate international feed....
More worthy of an investigation that the Daily Politics row, if you ask me.
It was interesting that there wasn't a BBC end cap - it was an indy - Live Nation I think on behalf of the Princes' ... so it could be that there wasn't a BBC crew doing it (I assume they are stretched with Wimbledon) and it may just have been carried on BBC One with some BBC input,
Surely i'm not the only one who was cringing at Ricky Gervais? He clearly was dying a death out there, and he knew it!
Not what I saw. I thought he was really good. I bet he could have gone on longer too.
He was awful! He said himself, he should have brought some material. Haven't a clue what the public's fascination is with him - he was certainly execrable tonight!
i really enjoyed elton's rendition of CITW yesterday - still quite moving to hear him perform it live. i thought he said that he wasn't going to perform it but i think the crowd were happy that he did!
