Moving regions (& home), from South West to Wales. Leaving Sky dish for new people in my house, taking digibox with me. Phoned yesterday to provisionaly book new dish at new address (but still had to pay up front for it). Gave what should be my new address all being well, not moving til end of month (Feb), today, swiched on Skydigi, all channels, (I now had 'BBC1 W, SC4~Digidol and so on) had changed to either Welsh speaking or Welsh regional. Phoned Sky, told I did not live where I live. They had changed the code on my card (?) to Welsh because I 'was living in that region'! They refused to change it back. Then found they had changed it over becuase I was in Wales...already, I am not.
They changed it back once I'd explained to nice 'supervisor' and a he said they had been premature (there is a cure for that isnt there?). However, once I move to Wales, IBA (should be ITC now?) say I HAVE to receive that region, if I like it or not. As soon as I move, Sky will reindent my viewing card again with that regional setting. Anyone else had similar problem when changing areas?
If anybody is going to post a reply to this question/point, please could they keep it to constructive comments, thank you.

surely its not that hard to press 184 rather than 104 for channel 4

the 8 is right above the 0 - that's why channel 4 is on 184 in wales - because its in a similar position (on the remote control) to 104.

There was talk of Sky developing the Digibox software, so that you can choose which region goes where. I don't know when or if this will still happen.

Thanks AJnet for your constrictive, sorry, constructive help. Having physical disabilities does not mean I am braindead. I find the buttons too small on the remote. Perhaps if the nice supervisor at Sky had put me through to someone with a disability, they may have had a little more long term constructive help. I was brought up in Wales, I see you are from HTV Wales region, however, I do not speak Welsh and nor am I prejudice, is that a problem with you? How rude!
I hope someone reads this that can offer some help?

That's exactly what I asked Sky today, Fusionlad. I was hoping there may be a way to do this with the box already, but the supervisor said not. there is a way to get round it, if I have someone independant to install my new dish and leave my address somewhere down south. Seems crazy to me. Whatever happened to freedom of choice, I thought thats what 'Digital' was all about?

How do you change channels usually, e.g. from 101 to 102?

you might consider one of these

http://www.brymar.co.uk/acatalog/skrk.jpg

they were giving them away free if you sent an email to them via the telly, don't know if they still are, or you can buy them, http://www.brymar.co.uk/acatalog/Online_Catalogue_Sky_Digital_3.html is flogging them for 30 quid.

It has all of the buttons a normal sky remote has, but they're almost all much bigger.

I use the up & down keys or +/-, with luck, only one choice is made, if I use number buttons, chances are I will press 3 or 4 keys together. Of course, I could go up through the channels from 100 onwards using the +/- key. Then C4 could be found by pressing the + button 80 times, as Sky have placed SC4~Digidol at Channel 104 (C4 in south west region) if you live in Wales at Channel 184 which is SC4~Digidol if you live in S West, to reach Channel 101 (BBC2 in South west region)), I would need to press the + button 860 times to reach where it would be in Wales, at Channel 961. I could save myself the humiliation and cancel my Sky subscription and then I wouldnt have to speak to Sky Customer Services in Calcutta either!

From one disabled person to another, what is your disability, if I may ask?

It's not that many presses due to there not being a channel on every number, but it's still a lot - although don't forget you can press the - key to get from 101 to 961.

I'm sure someone on here will know which universal remote controls with big buttons will operate a Sky box.

I would like to write to the IBA as the Sky supervisor advised, but they ceased to exist, they became the ITC. But so has the ITC, this is now under OFcom...
I have spoken to OFcom, it's nothing to do with them what Sky choose to send down to my viewing card via the dish, so supervisor was wrong.
I would like to cancel my Sky subs. but I cannot get hold of the old kind of freeview card. Tried phoning 'free2view' today, on hold for such a long time I gave up. There is nowhere on their website to order one either.

If anybody has a 'spare', please could they let me know, thanks?
