Of course that lady who rides down the road on her bike at night for ITV idents, ought to be wearing a safety helmet (come to think of it, does she have lights on that bike?)

Well if she does end up brain-end, at least she would be able to appreciate Peter Andre's & Jordan's show on ITV2.

Cycle helmets are not compulsory in UK law, and personally I would oppose any attempts to change that. But when I saw the promo for Peter and Jordan's show, words failed me. Maybe ITV is subliminally trying to attract more brain-damaged viewers...

and no doubt they were drinking tea which was kept warm by a tea cosy, which has a shockingly high death rate of 20000000000:1!!!

Reminds me of my primary school. We weren't allowed to run in the yard BUT we could skip... Confused: Rolling Eyes

Surely the flying Chevron at the start of 3-2-1 could have been a great danger, especially if it flew into someones eye

I'm sure someone needs a slap for having BBC2 - shaped wing mirrors on their car...surely a breach of DVLA rules...

No rules on wing mirrors as there not compulsory. Only a centre rear view device is compulsory in cars.

I thought that they were that's why all cars now have them on the passenger side as well, when they never used to & only used to have on the drivers side

Back in 1989, CITV were as bad as these health and safety zealots are today. Repeats of the 1970s drama Follyfoot, frequently showing Ron Stryker riding his motorbike without a helmet (the law did not require it at the time) were tarnished with a pompous end credit announcement, sourced from Border TV:

"We would like to point out that since this programme was recorded it has become a legal requirement for motorcyclists and their passengers to wear a crash helmet at all times."

As if anyone in 1989 wouldn't have known that - and it spoiled a great theme tune. So if Worzel Gummidge was ever shown again, would we hear...

"Viewers should be aware this programme was first shown in 1979, and current advice is that gloves should always be worn when holding sparklers."

...before the Bonfire Night episode? Things really are going that way.

Never said helmets were a legal requirement Wink

Why would you oppose a legal requirement for helmets? No different from motorcycle helmets or seatbelts in cars surely? Confused

But as you say we need the viewers for Pete and Jordan's show Wink

Perhaps there too would be worries about that BBC 2 Tagging Policeman ident, encouraging youngsters to imitate the behaviour and start spray-painting officers' backs...I don't think I've seen it screened on-air yet.

I doubt any children would take Tagging Policeman seriously - but if it does, it could become the latest craze, and the 2 could become a policeman's fashion accessory! Laughing

Because we should be free to choose. Notwithstanding that helmets are not pleasant to wear, any attempt to make them compulsory will harm efforts to encourage people, especially children, to take up cycling. This itself would devastate the anti-obesity drive (something I have little time for as it's motivated by a desire to save the NHS money, rather than altruistic reasons).

Seat belts should be a matter of choice also.

I can't believe they got away with Capoeira for so long when they were on top of a building without a safety-rail in sight.

Not to mention those guys dangling from the ceiling without a safelty net in sight.

Wasn't "acrobat" pulled for a few days after someone died?

Inevitable someone would complain - good to see OFCOM using common sense for once.
