The BBC always misjudge these ceremonies - it's very rare they don't overrun quite significantly. Unusually and annoyingly for anyone recording the EPG didn't update here on Freeview tonight, meaning recordings will have cut off at 11pm, Noticed that happen during the World Cup too.
Anyway, says it all when the best part of the opening ceremony was the parade, and that screen seemed a huge waste of money and 20,000 seats when it's main purpose seems to be done better by dogs in coats.
As for presentation - nice to see Hazel hosting the bulk of the lead up, though Sue is somewhat missed - she does work with Gary quite well IMO. Is she involved at all in these games in a commentary capacity?
Nice enough opening titles though quite plain for the BBC. The theme could be better but usually the theme for these things is more of a grower than a shower.
I've no problem with the ceremony overrunning as it does happen.
What I am annoyed with is the BBC not updating the EPG presumably on any platform as it means everyone has lost the last 45 minutes of the ceremony which was probably the best part of the whole thing. Very annoyed.

No Sue whatsoever AFAIK. First time since the 1992 Olympics that Sue isn't presenting - specifically the first opening ceremony of an Olympics/Commonwealths since 1998. It does seem strange not seeing her.
However, I know it's been discussed before, but I'd like to place on record that Hazel Irvine really is a magnificent broadcaster who really doesn't get the credit she deserves.
