Watching TOTP now on Beeb2. GOD I miss TOTP... why on Earth don't the BBC bring it back?
Brekkie says no.
Damn right. That said, I wasn't sure about it being the filler tonight but it's worked brilliantly for them in having the big music acts without them turning up on the main show every 10 minutes.
What's the point in this Apprentice thing though - doesn't even seem like they're raising money for Comic Relief this year, and what's the point in firing one when it's all coming to an end anyway?
On a presentation point of view loving the menu graphics this year - they work brilliantly. The show does seem a bit thin on the presenter ground though - David Tennant was surprisingly excellent, but the rest seems to be more barrel scraping than getting the best hosts for the job. I guess ITV have put a stop to Ant and Dec hosting too - I don't think they've done a live show since 2001 - it's just been pre-recorded films since then.
Alan Carr - very popular comedian at the moment.
Fern Britton - very popular daytime television and awards ceremony favourite.
Jonathan Ros - still has massive appeal, despite/thanks to Sachsgate.
Claudia Winkleman - star of ITT and Let's Dance.
David Tennant - hugely popular former Doctor and actor.
Davina McCall - Channel 4's currently longest-serving entertainment presenter and a household name (including CR which she's done several times).
So which barrel are we scraping then? I'm glad you're providing some Comic Relief, as I nearly wet my pants reading your post Brekkie.
I think some people just sit and watching things to try and actually find problems, instead of appreciating it as a money raising oppertunity for people in dire need.
But no instead we'll sit and comment on things not being in safe areas and camera angles? Who cares tonight? It's about entertaining, and it's about giving your hard earned cash to people who don't have it.
One thing I have noticed with this evening's show is that there's no bad vibes between the presenters and there is mainly a lack of ego from those involved. Especially just now with Fern and for once, a genuinely emotional Davina.
This year feels much more "right" than previous years. The celebs feel more sincere, the presenters more comfortable presenting, and the films even more heartbreaking than usual, without being mawkish or sensationalist.
Hope they raise a lot - even with the credit crunch crunching. As at least one person has said tonight, it's those who have the least who suffer most at these times...
Well, I've been pretty impressed with the whole shebang this year to be honest. Laugh-out-loud funny, followed by films that hit hard as to what the whole point is in the first place. Plus, it's good to see Anthony back in The Royal Family... and the return of a couple of gags about the cost of carrier bags...
