Right...where do I start with this one....

Craig Revel-Flavoured - They obviously couldn't find anyone else, so used a dance judge instead Confused right....considering this is a singing competition. Bad choice.

Lesley Garrett - She can sing and she was over allaborate on Strictly Come Poncing...she'll do...Rolling Eyes

Arrow Celebs taking part for traditional 'celebrity in need of attention fund'.. Rolling Eyes

Jenny Eclair
Al Murray
Vanessa Feltz (she'll make an appearance somewhere..)

Arrow Celebs taking part for the real cause....

Kim Medcalf
Dawn Steele
Nick Knowles
Adrian Edmonson
Konnie Huq
Debra Stephenson

And the other celebs... just there for the money. Rolling Eyes

I know this is the BBC - but I still like a good rant! Smile

Why is it that Katherine loathes Big Brother, I'm A Celeb, Pop Idol and the whole concept of "reality tv", yet when it comes to the BBC having a go, she starts a thread about it.

Um, because there's a 'learning element' in it, with the lessons being available via an interactive facility of the 'press red' variety?

Learning? Well they really did well with David Sneddon and Alex Parks didn't they? Rolling Eyes Oh who's a Fame Academy success...Lemar. Whoopiedoo - a samey artist that turns out the same "neuvo-balad" tracks time after time.

Fame Academy is no more educational than Peter Levy and Paul Hudson banter.

Don't be a hypocrite. It won't work.

I only caught the very start and thought how 'last year' that Fame Academy theme tune was, I thought we'd seen the last of this type of derivative programming on BBC1.
Then I caught the very end when they almost read the phone number out for Al when he had just been evicted!

Fancy joining in the conversation in a positive way, just like the non-clique people in here are doing, as well as on Digital Spy?

Nobody liked it when a few of us criticised Pop Idol in the thread dedicated to it, so why try to produce negativity in here, just because it's a rival to 'your' show?

As for the success of past winners and competitors, Alex Parks is working on her next album and Lemar actually won a Brit Award for 'Best Urban Artist'. I'd call that success, wouldn't you? The same could be said for 'your' show - Michelle McManus seems to have disappeared........

It is derivative in the sense there's too much similar stuff around on TV, BUT- it's for Comic Relief.

It's sole purpose is entertainment to raise money for a much needed (particularly after the understandable tsunami distortion of African aid donations) cause.

I'm fairly certain that there won't be a third full series of the show- unless it has a huge format change to bascially be a musical workshop programme (no evictions, live streaming etc. etc.).

It is however not fair to say it is a copy of Pop Idol/Stars/Groupies/whatever- the format of Fame Academy is based on "Star Academy"- a format that predated the ITV shows.....in fact Simon Cowell et al clearly nicked ideas from the (Spanish?) "Star Academy" for the first "Popstars" series.

I've heard rumours from a couple of places that suggest that a third series WILL be produced!

It would take a brave (read "crazy") new BBC One Controller to commission another Fame Academy....Heggassy might have gone for it, but the backlash of launching a new face for BBC with that programme is simply too great (in my opinion).
