Also, what planet have you been on? Sainsburys pretty much turned red this year with more comic relief items on sale than ever.

A part of a planet that doesn't have any Sainsburys! Wink

I live in that part as well, Sainsburys have a southern bias

Erm, I'm in London! Oddly, it's all Morrisons territory here Very Happy

There was a great edition of Radio 4's Reunion programme the other day about Comic Relief. It features some of the founders of the charity and goes through the early days (I never realised that it started on the Late Late Breakfast Show) and gives insights into the early stage and TV shows.

It was part of the Radio 4 Choice podcast and downloadable until Friday:

This year has completed RND's telethon's change into being completely the same as Children in Need's telethon. Besides the absence of Wogan, both are now filled with 'light entertainment BBC presenters' (Winkleman, Cotton etc) linking to clips, rather than anything happening in the studio.

I have thought this for a while myself, and do feel it is to save on costs. The studio is never really designed nowadays to accommodate anything happening in the studio. By the time Alan Carr had added his Chatty Man furniture on the stage it was practially full.

Wasn't a lot of the studio floor taken up with audience though? Instead of having everyone in the seats they were on the studio floor and the presentation area went through/around that.

I'm not sure that there would be much of a cost saving by putting a small set in the biggest studio.
