I guess so considering all competitions ended at midnight and every 10 minutes you had 2 minutes of terms and conditions it isn't the sort of show that works on iPlayer. I guess these comps with "voluntary donations" work well for them though considering they were largely at the expense of the regular donation methods which were removed from screen for the show.

The presenting line-up does seema bit of a misstep. Given it's Comic Relief you'd have expected the majority of the presenters to be comedians whereas barely half seem to be in the line-up they used last night. It's not too hard to think of options either - the likes of Alan Carr, Chris Ramsey, Michael MciNtyre, Mel Giedroyc, David Williams have also hosted these sorts of telethons in the past and there are others like Iain Stirling, Adam Hills, Joel Dommett who are used to presenting on TV. Comic Relief and Children In Need in terms of content seem to barely differ these days - aside from Pudsey for CIN and the Red Nose for Comic Relief they're basically interchangable these days.

You have to say too that the telethons could learn a thing or two from their radio equivalents - the 24 hour events or challenges Radio 1 & Radio 2 do seem to be far more interesting, fun and inventive than what airs on the telethon which feels very 'by the numbers'.

Unfortunately most of the show was as flat as a pancake. There was little point in producing a live studio show with a vast set without any audience participation. They really needed to think outside the box perhaps have the studio for the big production numbers and the presenters elsewhere or alternatively pay a visit next door and ask Saturday Night Takeaway how they manage it.

The Prizeathon doesn’t appear to be on iPlayer yet. I’m guessing this could be due to the competitions which are now expired, but it would seem unusual for something of that nature not appear on the service, even if it is with captions telling people the competitions are closed.

iPlayer seems to be running slow. Comic Relief wasn't on iPlayer until 11AM and Breakfast took until 2PM.

There are loads of fresh ideas, but as you say they are all seperate events around the edges. The actual evening seems to be an after thought, I’m sure it’s getting to the stage that they only do it because they always have done.

If anyone has a big idea to do something new it’ll take place before the day and have a seperate programme showcasing it on a seperate night.

Further to my earlier comment about how it'd be a shame for a poor show to lead to less donations, I've just noticed that the total money raised has been in steady decline after 2011. Plenty of opportunity to interpret that as "maybe we need to improve the show and get more people watching".

I've just watched my video recording of The Great Comic Relief Prizeathon was on BBC One from 22:45 to 23:45 last night. As its name suggests, its main aim was to promote four more text-to-enter competitions which one had the chance enter up until midnight last night. Also included were a couple of sketches from past RNDs, and a couple more in-the-studio pop performances. Effectively this was an after-the-news extension of the main live show.

As was promised at the end of the main show, they did update the running total just before the end of The Great Comic Relief Prizeathon. The updated total, at the end of The Great Comic Relief Prizeathon, was £52,025,485. Well done, considering the current circumstances. Fair enough, that's down on the £63,548,668 total at the end of the Red Nose Day 2019 TV show, but it must be borne in mind that show went on until well after midnight. The Great Comic Relief Prizeathon this year finished at 23:45 or thereabouts last night.

To those who were disappointed at the main show being just 19:00 to 22:00, with no proper "part 2" show from when the 10 o'clock news / regional news / weather ended until well after midnight, think of it this way. At least the BBC managed to have some sort of Red Nose Day live TV show, with a mix of entertainment and appeal films, plus an hour-long TV show with the competitions, and, as a bonus, two repeat shows after that (Gordon Ramsay's Bank Balance followed by Billy Monger's Big Red Nose Day Challenge). I guess that, under the current circumstances, they couldn't have enough pop stars / groups and stand-up comedians to perform live to justify another 3 to 4 hour show after the news. Remember, everyone they had live, in the studio, would probably have needed to have been tested for coronavirus before being allowed into the studio, and socially distanced. Not to mention the problems of the performers travelling to the studio under the current circumstances. As I said last night, this year's Red Nose Day evening was totally unlike any that has happened in the past.

^Has anyone ever told you that you complain too much?

Isn't that what TV forums are for? To air views? Or have I got it wrong. As it seems on TV Forum, it is fine to post a comment or opinion, until it goes against other people's opinions, and then you get hammered. Not long to go before I will not have to worry about commenting on here again, as I have always felt since 2020 I have been treading in broken glass when commenting on here.

You do realise posting on TVF was never mandatory?
