Comic Relief 2013 - Mildly Amusing at Times for Money

The last one was dire - I seem to remember it was pre-recorded sketch after pre-recorded sketch (perhaps to be able to flog them on iTunes immediately?) and climax of the evening was that bloody choir thing which wasn't remotely funny. Hoping it improves this time around, particularly as it's the last large-scale live production from TV Centre before the redevelopment.

Have to agree - would like tonights show to be much more about live stunts in the studio than just presenters linking from appeals to sketches to appeals.

I do think this year especially they've spread content out far too thinly - Great British Bake Off aired their Comic Relief specials back in January when really they could have aired this week, while I don't understand why Radio 1 had their Red Nose Day special yesterday on the Breakfast show rather than this morning.

There is someone getting married (live) on the Red Button. I guess it will be shown in highlights form during the evening. It has the unrehearsed, open ended and wobbly camera feel to it that is missing from the main show.

what I don't think anybody has said is is this the first time the bbc news on 1 and newsnight on 2 have been delayed by a charity telethon on bbc1

You should all write a strongly worded letter to Richard Curtis telling him the fact they only raised a pathetic £74 million last time is proof they're doing it wrong and you know how to do it better.

Lenny Henry is garbage.

Very true. It is nice that they have started the show with live presenting and a short appeal film rather than with 'live' music though.

It sounds a little like Iain Lee doing the voice over on the Coming Up bit but I would be surprised if it is.

Jessie J already looks like she's wearing a wig I hardly think anyone will notice the difference when she pops one on her soon-to-be bald head.

It's Matt Edmonson.

So far... So unimpressed. Seems like the same deal as all the other recent ones.

Unfunny presenters linking to very unfunny sketches (I.e. This Simon Cowell wedding this is dire.)

I can also see that the strip in the studio is causing some havoc with the camera angles as half the screen is cut off as has already been demonstrated a few times.

I feel I may not last til 10.30... once again.

Surely that way they raise more money? Instead of having everything on one day or week the appeal message can reach more people that way

Rolling Eyes The point of the GBBO specials airing in January is to encourage people to start planning and organising bake sales in the run up to Comic Relief. Pretty pointless to air it the night before.

Has she said she's wearing a wig (I doubt she will)?
